[googlefont="Playfair Display"][googlefont="Alice"] I was as pure as a river. But now I think I'm possessed Her best friend was turning seventeen, and the birthday party for her was in full swing. The Adkins parents booked themselves into a hotel for the weekend, and it seemed like Delilah at least was taking full advantage of it. Evan sipped her drink and danced with Casey Jaimison Foster. She knew that he was an amazing boyfriend, that they were going to make things work between them and the thoughts of Aden were just going to go away. If she cared enough for Casey, loved him enough, she would be able to make things work with them. She really did love Casey, she knew that for sure. She just had to stop thinking about Aden like that, and they would be fine. She spotted the birthday girl and gave Casey a quick kiss before rushing to her best friend’s side. Apparently Aden was locked away in his bedroom and Delilah wanted him to come down to enjoy the party with the rest of them. Evan knew that Delilah always worried about her brother not being social enough. It was clear that Delilah wasn’t able to enjoy her party without her brother and with a deep drink of liquid courage from her red cup, she agreed to go try to pry the tattooed arsonist from his room. What made all of it harder was that she knew that this little crush was one sided, that she had no reason to believe that Aden would be interested in her and that they were just friends. That he would never be interested in her, and that it shouldn’t hurt her that he didn’t want her back. Evan scaled the steps of the Adkins home and took a deep breath before knocking on Aden’s bedroom door. She knew that Aden had no interest in her, and it was just up to her to keep their friendship causal, the way that it always should have been. She peeked her head in and smiled at the other teen, “Hey birthday boy, mind if I join you?” Of course he was just as handsome as she knew he was. She knew that being with Casey was the right thing to do, and she was just there as a friend to Delilah and Aden. 409 NOTES: happy back home gift!

It was his birthday. Aden knew he should be outside celebrating with his twin, Delilah, but instead he was holing himself up inside his room. Evangeline was there. Aden convinced himself his non-appearance at the party wasn’t due to her, it was just that he would rather celebrate alone. That’s what being an introvert was about, right? It wasn’t like he knew many of Delilah’s friends anyway. This had nothing to do with his closeted feelings about Evangeline Charbonneau. None. He was in the middle of scrolling through Facebook on his phone when he heard a knock on the door. Aden imagined it was Delilah coming to drag him down to the party and he sighed. “Come on in.” Aden was surprised when it was none other than Evangeline. The girl he had been trying to avoid. “Oh. Uh… Hi.” He said lamely. “Sure, I don’t mind I guess.” He internally cringed. Good thing she was taken, because if this was how he was going to flirt with her, he’d definitely stand no chance. “Let me guess: it’s getting so crazy downstairs that you had to run away and disown Delilah because she’s stripping on the table. Am I close?” Aden gave her a lopsided grin. He scooted his body to one side of his bed so Evan had enough space to sit beside him. He knew in reality the reason Evan was here was because Delilah probably sent her to steal Aden and force him to the party. Aden always felt Delly had that suspicion that he couldn’t say no to Evan. And she used it against him often. “Just tell Delly that this isn’t my scene. I don’t even know most of the people downstairs, and I’m sure half of them don’t like me anyways.” Aden stated as he began scrolling through his Facebook again. Ah, the benefits of being an asshole always come to light on one’s day of birth. MADE BY VEL OF GS AND ADOXOGRAPHY 2.0

[googlefont="Playfair Display"][googlefont="Alice"] I was as pure as a river. But now I think I'm possessed
When she heard his voice allow her to come into his room, she almost wished that she had taken more advantage of the table filled with crystal bottles of hard liquor. She needed some of the courage, and opening his bedroom door was like diving head first into how she felt about Aden without knowing what would happen to her at the bottom. Regardless, Casey was going to be waiting for her one floor below and she didn’t know how to figure out what she wanted. If she at least knew that Aden didn’t see her like that, then she would be able to stop thinking that every passing touch was meant for her. That every glance he tossed her way had some meaning to it. What she wouldn’t give to find some guy like @roman snuggled up in Aden’s bed looking flushed right at that moment.
She bit her lower lip slightly, his face illuminated in the glow of his cellphone and she knew that he was painfully handsome even when he didn’t try and that probably made him even more appealing to her. “Thanks.” She crossed the room, being careful of the slight mess and looked at the personal touches that were so painfully Aden. She loved it and wished that she could know him more, that she could spend more time talking with him, watching their shows, listening to his favorite song. Even with a party raging below them, she was tempted to just curl up with him and forget the world for a bit.
“Close, I mean give her a few more shots and we might be dealing with that.” She teased back and sat down next to him, their knees bumped and she was painfully aware of how high her skirt rose on her thighs, of the lace tingling her arms and her collarbone. “I’m sure it’s more like a quarter of them don’t like you.” She said with a smile and looked at him, “She wants you to have a good birthday, and so do I.” She was painfully aware of how close they were, about her chest against his arm as he scrolled mindlessly through his Facebook feed. About how he could probably care less if she was there, but she was losing her mind with the pent up feelings for the pyro.
“Come on, I like you, that has to count for something right?”

Aden laughed as Evan admitted Delilah was on her way to a drunken stupor. And the fact that only a quarter of the attendees hated him. Better odds than usual. A grin graced his features.
"I'm having a great birthday," Aden argued, "I've got you here. See?" He gave her a lop-sided grin and putting his hand on top of hers.
"So, you count for half a something." He teased with a wink. "I have to share you with Dell so." He shrugged. Aden didn't remove his hand from Evan's as he turned his attention back to Facebook.
"Besides, catching up on the gossip is so much more fun than putting up with their actual drama. Did you know Celeste was sleeping with AJ behind James' back? Intense break up over social media, let me tell you." Aden's smirk was incredibly devilish. "It's better than English soap operas." Aden knew he was avoiding the topic of going downstairs. He liked having Evan here with him. It gave him a little bit of the warm and fuzzies inside to know that she left the party downstairs just to come talk to him. Sure, maybe Delilah coerced her, but still. She was choosing his sulky ass over them. Though he should deny the feeling, he welcomed the attention.
"... So," Aden knew he shouldn't be having the feelings for Evan that he did. She was taken. Hell, her boyfriend was downstairs, "uh, yeah, I mean just tell Delly that I'm not feeling good. Thanks for checking on me, I don't wanna hold you up anymore. They're all probably much more entertaining downstairs, I'm sure." Aden crinkled his nose in a grin, trying to convey the fact that he would be okay, even though he'd spend the rest of the night thinking about her.

Evan grinned when Aden seemed to think that he was hated by most of the world. He was so completely different than Casey, it was really remarkable. Aden made her laugh with his dry wit and snarky humor. It made her feel special that she seemed to be the only one who could crack his smile and who completely owned his laughter. When he placed his hand over hers it felt like a million pricks of electricity shot over her skin. Like he looked inside of her heart and saw what she wanted from him and by some twist in the universe, he actually wanted to be with her too.
He was going on about some social media drama, but she could just feel his hand over his and how much she wanted to kiss him. How much she didn't care that Casey was downstairs and how much she just wanted Aden to wrap her up in his tattooed arms and make her forget she had someone else waiting for her down stairs. She laced her fingers with his and looked at Aden while he talked about her message back to Delly, but she couldn't care less about her best friend.
Gathering all of her courage, Evan leaned forward and pressed her lips against Aden's. She ran her fingers through his hair and kissed him. The kiss that she had thought about for months, that she had hoped for for years. Realizing that she was actually kissing Aden and that he probably had never thought about her like that before, she pulled away and felt her cheeks flush a bright pink and her whole body shook with need for another kiss and to get as far away from him as possible from the embarrassment.
"I'm so sorry Aden, that-I shouldn't have done that." She wanted to do it again. She stayed next to him, their hands still connected and she wanted more.

Aden's brain couldn't connect to his mouth at first. Evangeline Charbonneau, the single most beautiful girl in the world, the woman he had been vying for the second he laid eyes on her, just kissed him. Him. Aden Adkins. Punk-ass, nothing special, regular old Aden. Before he could even get the chance to snatch her up and never let her lips go, the kiss was over. Evan was fervently apologizing for her actions, as if she had offended Aden or something. In that moment, Aden couldn't even remember who Casey Foster was. All he knew, this primal instinct, was that he wanted Evangeline with every fiber of his being. Before Evan could utter another apology, Aden leaned over and captured her lips with his own. Electricity sparked through every cell in his body, and he was finding it actually rather hard to control his body temperature. The room got steadily warmer around him and he wrapped the woman of his dreams in his arms. Eventually he had to break for air, and the oxygen must've knocked some sense into his brain, because Aden suddenly remembered the reason that he hadn't tried to kiss Evangeline before. "Oh, God. Evan, I'm so sorry. I mean, Casey, I just-" He couldn't form a coherent sentence, and blood was rushing to his cheeks. Her boyfriend wasn't even 200 feet away, just downstairs. Aden put his head in his hands, the heels of his palms digging into his eye sockets. He royally screwed up this time. Delilah would likely beat the ever-loving shit out of him, if Casey didn't get to it first. MADE BY VEL OF GS AND ADOXOGRAPHY 2.0

[googlefont="Playfair Display"][googlefont="Alice"] I was as pure as a river. But now I think I'm possessed
Evan couldn’t figure out what she thought that kissing Aden was going to accomplish, but she was damn grateful that he wasn’t a mind reader because the thoughts swirling her head were enough to even make her blush. She knew that all of this was wrong, that Casey was just down the stairs, but there was something impossibly alluring and completely perfect about sitting next to Aden, their hands together and the dull thump of the music from the party at their feet. She looked at him, waiting for him to tell her that they couldn’t do this, that it was wrong and that he wasn’t into her like that, he leaned back into her and started the second kiss that would forever change her life.
When she kissed Casey it was sweet and kind. There was no rush, there was no pressure. In that same vein, there was also no heat. No burning passion for each other. It was nothing like this. No kiss that she had before was like this. She ran her fingers through his hair, trying to get as close to the pyro as she could. There was too much between them, too much space, too many people, too much of the world that wanted to keep them from capturing this amazing moment and keeping it theirs forever.
When he wrapped her up, she ran her arms over his shoulders, making the kiss deeper. She wanted to just stay away from the rest of the party, just enjoy their time together and not let anyone else spoil it. She moved her hands from his shoulders and ran her fingertips up his shirt, feeling the soft skin that she had peeked at when she stayed with the Adkins family the few weeks prior. When he caught her in the bathroom in her shirt and underwear, when she stared at him a little too long and he seemed to get a little flustered that she was there. There had been so many signs that this was what was supposed to be, but she never wanted to see that Aden could care for her. That she could ever become more than just his sister’s best friend. She trailed her fingers over his sides, vying for any skin contact from the firebug.
This time it was Aden that pulled away from the kiss and started in with the apologies. She took a couple of deep breaths, light headed from the heat of the moment and sure that if she tried to stand up that she would find jelly instead of her previously stable legs.
She looked at him, her lips still swollen from his. Her hands were still desperate for his skin and her body screaming for his touch. She moved so she was straddling his lap and pulled his hands away from his eyes. She placed his hands on her hips and looked at him for a second before kissing him again. Casey was a thought for later, now, they both had some needs to meet. As the music pulsed below them, their hands moved over each other trying to memorize each and every curve and edge that they found. Evan pulled off his shirt, adding it to the pile of their shoes and her lace dress while they rolled around on his bed. She trails her lips down his neck while he gasped her name. His hands worked her body in the most sinful ways, while she begged for more beneath him. It was all in the way that her back arched when she felt a flood of pure electricity and heat that only Aden had been able to provide for her, despite some well meaning attempts from guys in the past. She wanted to memorize the way he buried his face into the crook of her neck while her touch brought him over the edge. It wasn’t until a knock on his door and Delilah’s voice came from the other side of the door broke them from the spell of their need for each other. “Aden, have you seen Evan? She was supposed to drag your sorry ass down to your own birthday party.”
Evan looked at Aden, terrified of what would happen now that the moment was over and the real world would start creeping back. The world where his twin sister and her best friend was outside of the door, and where her boyfriend was probably still waiting for her to come down to dance with him.

Aden Adkins was in complete bliss as Evangeline and his body melded into perfection. He never wanted it to end. The moment between the two of them was pure ecstasy. If only they could just freeze this moment in time, and never leave it. Of course, no such thing could happen, and with Aden's luck, their time together would be cut short because of his sister knocking on the door to his room.
Panic raced through his veins. There is no way he could explain Evangeline, half naked, in bed with himself, to Delilah. Not knowing what to say or do, Aden awkwardly flopped out of bed and quickly re-clothed himself. Before Delilah could let herself into his room, he cracked the door open and mustered the best glare he could give his sister.
"I told her I was coming Del, stop getting your panties in a twist. You have like 500 people downstairs, chances are, your drunk ass just missed her." He deadpanned in his usual Aden-esque tone. But Delilah, being his twin, wasn't easy to fool. Thankfully, she was drunk and just brushed him off.
"Whatever, hurry up and put on better clothes, you look like you just rolled out of bed!" Delilah slurred as she twisted around and made her way back to her party. Aden closed the door and slunk to the ground, letting out a huge sigh of relief.
"I, uh.. Think we've been summoned." He wasn't sure if he could play the rest of the night as if he and Evan were still the same as they were before, but with Casey in the same room, he would sure as hell try. And stay as far away from Evangeline during that time as he could. He could play normal. They were just friends. That's all.
