[googlefont="Playfair Display"][googlefont="Alice"] Bad girls underneath, like that You know how I'm feeling inside. Delly was the biggest blanket hog in the world, and she knew that her best friend wouldn’t even care about it. Evan lifted the other woman’s arm from her waist and tossed it onto her own body so she could escape to the bathroom without waking the other woman. She had gotten into Massachusetts late the night before with Delilah and she wasn’t even sure if her parents and brother knew that she was there. She ran her fingers through her dirty blonde hair and grabbed her bathroom things from her luggage. Her dad didn’t seem to care when she told him that she was going to spend a week with Delilah, and she knew that her stepmother wouldn’t even notice that she was gone. The only downside was leaving her brother to fend off their snide comments alone, but she was sure that she would be able to make it up to him later. Quickly she sent a text to Casey Jaimison Foster to let him know that she got there safely and that she would call him later. Evan walked down the short hallway to the bathroom and knocked to make sure that no one was there. She realized it was empty and walked in to brush her teeth and figure out something to do. She had roomed with Delly for the better part of two years, she knew that she wouldn’t be able to wake her best friend from her death like sleep for at least another hour. She knew that the Adkins parents were loving and wonderful. It was something that she never had in her own family. She and her brother had each other, but that was about it. Thankfully, the Adkins parents never seemed to mind when she would turn up with Delilah. She wasn’t sure how Aden felt when she just showed up. Mostly he kept to himself and didn’t talk to her too much. He was a nice guy and she loved when they could talk to each other, but when they were at the school it seemed like he was just in the background. It didn’t help that Delilah had such a big and bold personality. She cleaned off her toothbrush and started to brush her hair to try to get the small knots out of it. 418 NOTES: love her maybe!

School had not been out for more than a few weeks, and Aden had already adopted that "fuck it, I'm a lazy hobo" mentality. If only his body would also act accordingly. It wasn't as late in the morning as Aden had hoped when he crawled out of bed, unable to sleep. The clock on his cherry oak nightstand read 8:34. Great. Delilah wouldn't be up to even entertain him with her shenanigans for at least another hour and a half. The boy groaned and rubbed his eyes. Since he was already awake, with nothing better to do, might as well get a nice shower going. Not realizing there was anyone other than his family in the house, Aden sluggishly walked to the hall bathroom in nothing but his boxers. He met a nice surprise on the other side of the threshold. "Ho, shit!" Aden jumped and the words escaped his mouth before he could even bring the filter up. A stranger was standing in his bathroom, brushing her hair. Wait, no, not a stranger. Much worse. "Evangeline?" Aden's voice hitched in his throat. He swallowed hard, and tried to regain his composure, painfully aware that they were both standing there in their underwear. "Wh-wh-whaaat are you doing here?" He tried to casually formulate a question while bashfully trying to cover himself. Aden could've sworn it was supposed to be next week that Delly was bringing her roommate home with her. Jesus, this was embarrassing. But, damn, Evan looked good standing there in nothing but a loose t-shirt and-- stop it! Not supposed to be thinking those things. Not about Delilah's roommate. Who is also super dating someone. Don't even go there. "I, uh.. What week is it?" Aden sheepishly rubbed the back of his head. "I thought Delilah said you guys were coming next week.." So smooth. Great conversation starter. In underwear, no less. He was now seriously considering hiding in his room the rest of Evangeline's stay... MADE BY VEL OF GS AND ADOXOGRAPHY 2.0

[googlefont="Playfair Display"][googlefont="Alice"] Bad girls underneath, like that You know how I'm feeling inside.
Evan looked at herself in the mirror and knew that she would have to figure out something to do with herself before Delilah finally rose from the grave. She figured that she could find a book somewhere, or even see if she could bother Aden into paying attention to her. She knew that he usually liked to keep to himself, but she loved spending time with him. When he finally started to open up to her, he was funny, witty, and as snarky as she was. They would watch movies late into the night while Delilah was off being a social butterfly. When she heard the door opened, she expected to see Delilah with a massive case of bedhead and sleepy death glare in her eyes. What she didn’t expect was Aden in all of his tattooed sculpted chest glory in his boxers.
“Shit Aden, you scared me.” She wasn’t expecting to see him, though a small part of her knew that it was a glorious sight. The guilt set in because she knew that she shouldn’t be thinking that about her best friend’s twin brother, not when she had an amazing boyfriend back in New Orleans waiting for her to come back.
“Um, no it was this week.” She tucked her hair behind her ear and knew that they were both standing in their underwear and awkward as anything about it. She watched him cover his chest and she started to tug at the hemline of her mint green shirt. “This week I’m here, and then um Delly is coming down in a few days to stay in Nola while she gets set up for volunteering at Monroeville.” She knew that they were making small talk while they stood in their underwear. They were both friends, she had seen Delilah in every stage of undress since they became roommates, but this was the first time she had ever seen the male Adkins-counterpart in anything less than his grungy ripped clothes.
She stood awkwardly, before realizing that he was probably in the bathroom to actually use it. “Oh, I’ll get out of your way. I’m going to put clothes on, cause clothes are good. But Delly isn’t going to be conscious for a bit longer, do you want to hang out?”

"Uh.. well... Oops?" Aden didn't know how to respond. He scared her? Shit, she was the beautiful stranger in his bathroom, he was the one who was scared. Evangeline almost got lit on fire. Aden was thankful he had a little bit more self control than to do that. Evan continued to explain that it was indeed, supposed to be this week that she was here. Next week was when Delly went with her back to New Orleans. How could he forget? His goober sister wouldn't shut up about her volunteer opportunity at the nuthouse (she hated it when Aden called it that). "Riiight. I guess I got my weeks switched up.." Breathe. Just breathe. This is Evan, you've talked to her plenty of times before. Just not half naked. But it's not that bad! Right? I mean, it's definitely not a bad view. Aden groaned and mentally scolded his brain. He really needs to get control of that thing. "Clothes! Yeah. Clothes are good, definitely." He said a bit too quickly. Aden was thankful to be given an outing to this horribly awkward situation. He could shower, get dressed, put on his ever-so-cool mad at the world armor, and then he would be prepared to fight the battle that was having a normal conversation with Evangeline Charbonneau. "Just uh.. yeah. Gotta shower. Then clothes. If mum isn't up, I'll do something for breakfast?" He offered. Aden was a master cook - he learned everything his mother had to teach him by thirteen (and she was a professional). Aden figured if anything, being a sous chef at a high end restaurant was always a nice fallback plan. "Pancakes! You like pancakes? I'll make pancakes." Oh, fuck, and now Aden was getting all weird again. "Unless you don't like pancakes. Do you? I mean I can make something else. Anything really." He was rambling. This is what happens when angsty Aden gets caught off guard. It takes daily practice to be as cool as he is, and even then, when you catch him in the right light, in the wee hours of the morning, he's still a goofy teenager who has no idea how to communicate to women. [googlefont="Playfair Display"][googlefont="Alice"] Bad girls underneath, like that You know how I'm feeling inside.
She knew that the world saw Aden as someone who was too tough and too cool for anyone. She knew him as the goofy guy with the lopsided grin who would demand control of the Netflix account whenever he was in her room. They watched almost every episode of Criminal Minds and he would wack her with a pillow whenever she would make a comment about someone being attractive. They would yell at the screen when someone did something stupid and quote Dr. Reid’s venomous snark back and forth for days, much to the dismay of Delilah.
Evan nodded when he agreed and became painfully aware of how much skin she was showing, of how her butt would look in her underwear when she passed by him. A thrill went through her spine when she thought about if she even wanted Aden to watch her walk out of the bathroom. If he would, if he would like what she looked like. She scolded herself for even caring what he thought. She had been taking things slow with Casey, they would kiss, but they wouldn’t do much else. She was still a virgin, but she had been the tease type before Casey. She wanted to do that to Aden. To give him something to think about when he was in the shower, to make him crave her more than he craved his next breath of air and she hated herself for it. Just not enough to actually stop herself from stretching her arms over her head so more of her shirt rode up and showed her stomach to him. Give him more of a picture of what she would look like without the thin fabric covering what modesty she had left.
“Clothes are very good. Um, you shower and I’ll meet you downstairs?” She asked, leaning against the bathroom counter a little more. She figured that Delilah would find them eventually in the big house and until then she could spend some time with Aden. If she could spend more time with him and just see him as a friend, it would help her not want him to look at her with those piercing eyes. To have the hands that controlled fire, roam freely over her sun kissed skin. To know what it felt like to be with her brooding friend, just once. She knew she had to stop thinking about Aden like that when she had Casey waiting for her, but it was something she couldn’t help. Maybe she just had to do more things with Casey, it was just too much pent up frustration and there was a half-naked guy in front of her. Anyone would have these types of thoughts.
“Pancakes are my favorite.” She promised and gathered up her belongings. “Enjoy your shower.” She told him and finally managed to leave the bathroom with a certain swing of her hips for his viewing, even if she hated herself for it. Scurrying back to Delilah’s room, she put on something casual and shot another text to Casey that she missed him and wanted to hang out when she got back to Louisiana. He was a great boyfriend and she shouldn’t have thought the things she did about Aden. They would hang out, eat food, and watch TV just like when they were back in Primrose. Nothing different, and just friends.
She made her way down to the living room and sat down on one of the couches. The Adkins parents worked hard, but they loved their children. It was addictive to be around so much love, and she knew that Delilah finally going to her house was only because her father and stepmother were going to Paris for a month. She would never want her best friend to find out what her home life was really like. Ash knew, and that was already too much for her. She turned on the television and waited for Aden to join her.

As Aden watched the sway of Evangeline's lips as she walked out of the bathroom, he couldn't help but mentally beat himself to a pulp. What on earth was he thinking? Pancakes? Now she probably thought he was an idiot, which did not help his case, not that he should even have one anyway. Lest Aden forget, Evangeline was taken. Super taken. He stood zero chance with her. The boy grumbled to himself about the circumstances of their encounter, and how idiotic he had been, while he turned on the shower. After a quick brushing of the teeth and disrobing, Aden was under the blissful artificial rain. He knew he shouldn't take too long, as Evangeline was now waiting on him to make breakfast, but he couldn't help but taking an extra ten minutes in the shower. Aden emerged a new man, ready to take on the world. His cracking facade was now back in its proper place, and he would not be caught off guard again. Another several minutes were spent putting on his clothing and styling his hair, and finally he was prepared to face the beast that was Evangeline Charbonneau. Aden didn't rush to get down the stairs to the kitchen. He took his sweet time, whether it was for giddy nervousness of seeing Evan again, or absolute dread, he wasn't sure. He didn't get a chance to make up his mind, because as soon as he reached the living room, Aden saw the woman of his thoughts sprawled out on one of the couches. "Oh. Hey, Evangeline... I'll start on breakfast." His voice didn't fluctuate, even though she caught him slightly off guard once more. Good. At least it was a smoother encounter this time. Aden made his way to the kitchen, consciously making an effort to not look back at Evangeline to see if she was coming. He couldn't latch on to her. Not while she was dating CJ. "I'm guessing Delly is out cold, at least for another hour, yeah?" Aden called behind him, a small smile in his voice. He could be normal. He can play normal. "We can put on some Criminal Minds while I cook. You like chocolate chips in your pancakes?" He was already pulling out the ingredients, ready to busy his mind from the vixen even if for a moment. Wiggling into her jeans, making sure her dark eyeliner looked just right, and that she was tiptoeing around to make sure that Delilah stayed asleep for just a little bit longer. She knew that it was wrong that she was trying to seduce Aden, but she couldn’t help it. The way he looked with his boxers hanging low on his hips, the sleep in his eyes and the the smirk on his lips. She couldn’t help it one bit. It didn’t have to mean anything. It wasn’t cheating on Casey, it was just spending time with her best friend’s brother.
When Aden finally joined her in the living room, she had to admit that she bit her ruby painted lip with need. He was impossibly handsome and he was someone who she couldn’t be with. Just her type before she got with Casey. Her actual boyfriend who actually wanted to spend time with her and be with her. Casey was everything that she needed, but Aden was everything that she craved. She didn’t think about what it would be like for Casey to push her against a wall with his hands on her thigh while he punished her neck. She thought about Casey holding her hand while they walked through the park.
Him standing there, his torn clothes, his styled hair, the tattoos that he showed up with last year peeking through his shirt. She noticed how long it took him to get out of the shower, even though she knew it probably had nothing to do with her, it made her feel like there was a chance that he could possibly be interested in her back. He looked at her like he was surprised that she was where they agreed on meeting. “Sounds good.” She got up and followed him to the fancy kitchen that Mama Adkins designed special for the amazing things she could whip up at a moment’s notice.
“Probably longer, she kept getting texts from people last night. I have no idea when she finally put it away.” She walked behind Aden and smiled when he asked about the Criminal Minds. “That, or the Lizzie Borden Chronicles. It came up on my queue and it made me think of you.” She slid onto the counter near where he was going to be cooking and smiled at him, “So you might be stuck with me for a little bit, if you think you can handle that.” She watched him move around the kitchen and knew that he was as talented as his mother, but that he wouldn’t be likely to show off to anyone outside of this kitchen. She was sure that he saw her in the same light as Delilah, nothing could change that.
“Yeah, chocolate chip sounds great.” She stole the bag of the chips and took a couple out to suck on while he cooked. “I swear you got all of the food skills between you and Del.” Her best friend could burn water.

"Oh, a homicidal woman who killed her whole family reminded you of me? I'm touched." Aden said teasingly. His hands were already deftly mixing up pancake batter. "But I do love me some Christina Ricci, no matter how many ways she could kill me in my sleep. Kick it on." He nodded his head toward the coffee table. "I think the remote is under the table. Or in a couch cushion. I'm not really sure where Delly hides that thing these days." Aden shook his head. He and his sister could not be more different. Delilah liked to hide the remote so Aden couldn't put on anything scary or gory while she was there. It was something that terrified his sister to her core. If it weren't for the fact that she popped out right before him (and was unfortunately caught on camera) Aden would've sworn that they weren't related. Like Evan said, the other twin couldn't even cook. "Yeah, she's pitiful in the kitchen. Mom tried to get her to make her own eggs once when we were twelve. When the stove caught fire, we decided cooking was not Delilah's forte." Aden snorted at the memory. Delilah had to get a horrid haircut after the fact, because she had singed off so much of her hair. "I don't know how you put up with her shenanigans, honestly." He grinned as he poured some of the batter into the hot pan. He trickled a few of the chocolates on top of the pancake batter, waited a bit, and flipped the pancake into the air onto it's other side. Maybe he was showing off just a little bit. It wasn't often that he could display his gifts in the kitchen. One, being that he didn't get a lot of chances to cook for himself at Primrose, and two being, if he could, he wouldn't really want to do that in front of other people. High schoolers were relentless. He could only imagine the teasing, being a well-dressed boy in Louisiana, who, heaven forbid, can cook for himself. So feminine. Such wow. Kids were assholes. Jokes on them, because when they move out they'll be living on macaroni and ramen, and Aden will be living that gourmet life. "You know, I could see you being Lizzie Borden. Like, I totally wouldn't want to cross your path, Evangeline. I bet you're a scary fucker when you're angry." Aden said as he glanced at the television, trying to keep up with the show, and not burn breakfast. "Also, you'd look great in those clothes. I think I found your next Halloween costume, honestly." “Let’s be real, Delilah would be the first one to go if you snapped.” She teased and started just watching him cook, breaking her attention from the handsome man to search for remote in the couch. She was pretty sure that her rear end was up in the air while she dug through the cushions for the remote control. When she finally found it, she turned on the netflix and found the series that she wanted to watch with him. Once the show was on, she returned to the countertop next to Aden so they would be able to talk more. They were just friends. Two people who enjoyed hanging out together and could be platonic. That they could just be friends and she didn’t have to think about what it would be like to kiss him right now. To have his fingers tangle in her hair while he pulled her close. She scolded herself and remembered that it was Casey that she wanted to do that, not Aden.
“Trust me, we have a standing red beans and rice order for late night cravings up at Prim.” She smiled, just thinking about Delilah destroying an expensive stove and standing there with singed hair and a dorky you should still love me grin. She knew that if she had done something like that in her home, her step-mother would have locked her away in her room for a month. All the while complaining to her father about when Evan could get out of the house and away from them for good. She truly hated her family, so she had already planned on getting out of her family house as soon as possible. Even if she started living on the street, selling her designer clothes to the highest bidder, it was better than living at home.
“She’s entertaining at least.” She admitted, knowing that her best friend was the silver lining of her life. She was able to spend time with Delilah and pretend that she didn’t have to eventually go back home to Louisiana for the summer. Thankfully, her father and step-mother were going away for a month, and she would be able to enjoy her home without having to walk on eggshells from them. “But come on, you grew up with her. Though, it does explain some things.” She teased and watched him sprinkle chocolate chips over the pancakes, and then flip them in the air. He was impossibly handsome and she enjoyed watching him move around the kitchen.
When he mentioned how she would look in the tight waist, full gown, she knew that he was actually complimenting her. “Hmm, I think I could pull that off. Not going to dye my hair though. I like the blonde too much.” She ran her fingers through her long hair and knew that she wouldn’t be able to pull off the crazy color combinations like Delilah could.
“These look delicious.” She looked at the pancakes and knew that they were comfortable with each other and that was the attraction she had for him.

"Who says I haven't already snapped, and I'm just waiting for the opportune moment?" Aden smirked and tossed a grin over his shoulder to Evangeline. Delilah may have been useless in the kitchen, and an annoying sister, but he loved her dearly. Despite their many differences, Aden considered her his best friend. The man snorted at Evan's comment, knowing full well that she wasn't wholly joking when she said they had a standing late-night food order at Primrose. Delilah had trouble with Lunchables, anything that wasn't ready to eat was useless in her hands. Aden was 1,000% sure the woman would starve throughout college if he hadn't already made a pact to cook for her until she got married. It was something he jokingly agreed to shortly after the exploding kitchen incident, but Delilah hadn't forgotten at all. And she often makes sure that he doesn't, either. "Explain some things? Like how I get the urge to wring her neck every day?" He grinned again. Aden enjoyed teasing his sister, it was only a fraction of the teasing he got from the rest of his family. Sometimes he felt like Meg, from Family Guy, but he knew they all came from a place of love. Plus, it was easy to talk about. Delilah was Evan and Aden's common point, so that's what they could talk about. Aden wished it could be more, but he knew he couldn't do that. If he invested too much time and emotion into Evangeline, he would get attached. And if he got attached he might do some things that he might regret. Like he had to remind himself of often, Evan was taken, and whatever relationship he wanted to get in to with her, he couldn't. Absolutely hands down could not. So he would settle with making teasing remarks about Delilah, and the small talk about their favorite TV shows. "No hair dye? You know, all psychos are born brunette, it's a fact. See Delilah? Coincidence? Absolutely not." Aden stated matter-of-factly. Although it tossed him and the rest of his family under the psycho bus too. "You have to at least get a wig to pull off the subtly psychotic look, I'm sure Delilah knows where to find one... But then again, I think you do look amazing with blonde hair." Oh shit. Did he say that out loud? Aden's heart skipped a beat. He swiftly turned his attention back to the food he was cooking, and avoided making direct eye contact with Evangeline. "Thanks." He said brusquely when she complimented his pancakes. Way to not make things awkward. Aden quickly pulled out some plates for breakfast, so quickly that he wound up sliding one off of the shelf, and shattering it on the floor. "Shit!" He swore. That probably would've woken Delilah up. That and the smell of pancakes. Aden continued fixing Evangeline's plate, hoping by now she had forgotten his comment. "For you, madam. And now I must clean shattered plate, and hope my mother doesn't notice." Another half-grin. He could play this cool. MADE BY VEL OF GS AND ADOXOGRAPHY 2.0

She laughed when he admitted that he could have already snapped and was waiting for the opportune moment. “Death by chocolate chip pancakes? I mean if I have to go, then that’s the way I want to go.” She told him, stealing another chocolate chip from the bag. If he let it melt on her tongue, it would keep her from being able to say something about being with Aden that she wouldn’t be able to take back.
She was with Casey, that was who she should be focusing on. She cared about her boyfriend. She loved her boyfriend, not just cared for him. She had to remember that. Casey was good for her, he was someone who was sweet and caring. Then again, Aden was making her breakfast. He was watching what she wanted to watch on Netflix and they were hanging out like it was nothing. They were comfortable around each other, and she still had thoughts of them making out on his couch while Christina Ricci hacked her parents to death on the screen.
“Like your constant exhaustion when it comes to her.” She knew that his family was warm and loving, that they cared about each other and would do anything for their children. She laughed when he mentioned that all psychos were brunette. “Explains your whole family.” She teased back, looking at the ends of her hair. “Maybe a wig would work.” She shrugged, thinking about the flawless beauty of Christina Ricci. She knew that she wouldn’t be able to compare to the wide-eyed woman. Just thinking that Aden could think that she could pull off the same beauty made her think that he could care about her back. Or she was looking too far into a harmless comment from her friend. Someone who didn’t want anything from her other than friendship and she was being crazy.
When he said that she looked amazing as a blonde, she smiled and felt her cheeks turn pink with a blush. “Thank you.” She ran her fingers through her hair and stole a look at Aden, “I like this flippy hair thing you’ve got there.” She reached forward and ran her fingers through his reddish brown hair. She brought her hand back to her side and knew that she had to stop torturing herself with it.
She was trying to get her cheeks under control when he dropped a plate, making her jump a little. When she became scared, sometimes her illusions came up. Right behind Aden’s back, a figment of her and Aden kissing manifested against the wall. Hands on each other, more passion than she ever felt with Casey. The illusion-Aden kissed down illusion-Evan’s throat, and the real one waved her hands to make it go away before there were any noises from the imagination.
The illusion went away and Evangeline prayed to anything that was listening that he didn’t notice it. She grinned at Aden, taking the plate from him. “Thanks.” She slid off the counter and carefully made her way to the couch so they could keep watching the show. The wall where the illusions manifested was in her side-vision and made her blush. She just wanted to eat and push those thoughts away as much as possible.
“These are tasty, Aden. Thank you.”

The sound of rustling came from the top of the stairs. Aden's suspicions were correct, Delilah had woken to the loud sound of shattering china. And the smell of pancakes. Aden and Evan had 15, maybe twenty minutes left together tops, if Delilah bothered herself enough to shower and brush her teeth before coming downstairs. As Aden swept up the plate fragments, he thought he saw something out of the corner of his eye. When he turned to see what it was, there was nothing. He let out a small 'hm' as he tossed the shards into the garbage. After, Aden quickly fixed himself a plate of breakfast, drowned it in syrup, and took a seat beside Evangeline. "You know, you can't tease me like that, playing with my hair and all. That's like. Cruel and unusual. If you're going to play with my hair, you have to commit." He teased with a half grin. The feeling of her fingers in his hair was divine, to say the least. Before he could get wrapped up in talking about hair and touching each other, Aden changed the subject. "So, you're coming to our birthday party, right?" Nice subject change. Invite her to your house again. Torture yourself more. Just shoot yourself in the kneecap, why don't you? Here's to not showing your face on your birthday, nerd. Aden didn't let his face betray his thoughts, he just wore a normal, blank smile. "Also, if you think they're that good, you might want to snag some more, before Tyrannosaurus Delilah gets down here and steals the whole stack." He eyed the 10-stack of pancakes, knowing full well Delilah would destroy them in a minute flat. As Aden heard footsteps descending the stairs, he stealthily slid a couple more pancakes on to his and Evan's plate, leaving Delilah with only a small mountain for herself. Aden put a finger to his mouth in a 'shh' manner, and winked at Evan. "Morning sunshine!" Aden was met with incoherent grumbles. Delilah was not good with mornings.
