jade olivia moreau the basics full name ♦ Jade Olivia Moreau nicknames ♦ Jujube (by her grandparents only) age ♦ twenty-five birthday ♦ December 24th ,1990 occupation ♦ Art teacher at Phalanx school ♦ N/A species ♦ Human ability/power ♦ Dream Manipulation how the ability works ♦ With this ability, Jade can create, enter, and manipulate the dreams of not only herself, but others as well. This can include suppressing, fabricating, and influencing the direction of dreams and nightmares. The manipulation of dreams is by far the easiest thing to do as it contains the most positive energy. It takes far more energy from Jade to change or create nightmares, and it's for that reason that she rarely ever uses the ability - something that only further weakens it. Eventually, regardless of what she's manipulating, Jade will lose the ability to control her own dreams, which often evolve into nightmares after extended amounts of time within another person's head. At her angriest and with the most concentration, Jade can entrap people in REM sleep for upwards of three hours with sporadic night terrors that feel so real that you'll feel it when you wake up. This will often cause Jade's abilities to be suppressed for at least twenty-four hours, if not longer. As with the other uses, this will make her more susceptible to nightmares of her own. gender ♦ Female sexuality ♦ Pansexual the appearance face claim ♦ Margot Robbie height and weight ♦ 5’6” and 126lbs identifying features ♦ Multiple ear piercings overall appearance ♦ Jade stands just above average at a height of five feet and six inches, and weighs in at a healthy one hundred and twenty-six pounds. Tall, lean, and in shape for her frame, Jade walks with an air of confidence that cannot be penetrated. Blonde hair and blue eyes only serve to add to her assets and often make her look far more innocent than what she really is. In terms of clothing, Jade likes to wear what she’s most comfortable in - this can range from a good pair of sweatpants to a low cut dress that hugs in all of the right places. Her hair is kept short, generally just beyond her shoulders, and frequently goes between hanging loosely around her face or being pulled back. the personality likes ♦ ~ Speaking in different languages ~ Getting her way ~ Long walks ~ Beaches ~ Traveling dislikes ♦ ~ Being homesick ~ Getting hurt ~ Being lead on ~ Watermelon ~ Being predictable strengths ♦ ~ Ambitious ~ Resourceful weaknesses ♦ ~ Demanding ~ Guarded dreams ♦ Jade wants to save enough money to start a group home in Paris for wayward youth. fears ♦ Falling in love and being hurt again overall personality ♦ Much like everyone, Jade’s personality has changed over the years as she’s grown up and discovered who she is. More often than not, she’s the type of person that tends to put everyone first and sometimes needs reminders to take care of herself as well. Jade is looking out for other people, especially those that are younger and more vulnerable than she is. She holds a special place in her heart for kids and places them before anyone else on many different scales. Where adults are concerned, she holds them at arm’s length and tends to keep an eye on them. She isn’t particularly fond of letting people get close to her anymore, though that’s something that heartbreak does to people. However, there are a couple of people that she keeps close to her and to them she is fiercely loyal, though you still wouldn’t find her jumping in front of a bullet for them. Making art and traveling are two of Jade’s biggest passions and while she had once thought about a life where she would settle down, she’s now unsure if that’s something that will be in the cards again. the history father ♦ Roland Moreau, 54, oil rig captain mother ♦ Adriana Moreau [nee Thompkins], 52, Flight Attendant siblings ♦ N/A important people ♦ Lynette Moreau, grandmother, deceased Olivier Moreau, grandfather, deceased Gabriel Tolbert, 28, unemployed [best friend] Pascal a harlequin Beauceron that she brought with her from France. hometown ♦ Argenteuil, France ;; Bruges, Belgium overall history ♦ Jade was born in Argenteuil, France, in 1990, to Roland and Adriana Moreau. The pair had been married for only a couple of years and had suffered a miscarriage prior to their daughter’s arrival. It was no lie that Roland had been hoping for a boy, someone to pass on the family name and keep their legacy alive, but a boy was not in the stars. In fact, no children after Jade seemed to be in the stars for the young couple. Despite the amount of love that the couple had for one another, as well as their daughter, there was something that was pulling them in different directions. It was only after Roland secured himself a position working on an oil rig that he realized what it was. He wanted to travel and he didn’t want to be tied down. Adriana understood this, but a divorce wasn’t something that either of them wanted. So instead, he went about to continue work while Adriana stayed home with Jade. After some time, the family relocated to Belgium, away from Roland’s parents who were hovering almost constantly - something that Ariadne had once loved but was now beginning to grate on her nerves. Jade was eight when her ability first manifested itself. She was dreaming, or at least she had been sure that’s what she was doing, but the dream was unlike anything that she had ever experienced. It was so real and so powerful. Her family was together, they were acting like the rest of the families that she saw around town, happy and eager to spend time with one another. But there was something in the dream that was peeled back, almost like a picture lifting off of the page and when little Jade pulled, the entire thing came unraveled. It turned into a nightmare and just as quickly as it had happened, it stopped. Adriana had come to the rescue and looked over her baby girl, explaining what had just happened and telling her that she was gifted with a precious ability. It was something that ran in the family. Roland could manipulate nightmares and his father could manipulate all aspects of sleep. It was only after discussing this new turn of events with Roland that the decision was made to move back to France so that Jade could learn from her grandfather, Olivier, while her father was gone. This was something that they didn’t want to go without keeping an eye on, knowing full well just how dangerous it truly was. In the years that passed, Jade grew closer to her grandparents and further away from her father. He always made promises to come home, to come and visit and teach her, but those promises - she soon learned - were almost always empty. He would send letters in apology, claiming that something had come up, or that he and his men had hit it big and they couldn’t leave just yet. There was always an excuse and eventually Jade stopped replying. She knew that it was just a big game to him and decided that it wasn’t worth her time anymore. Adriana protested her daughter’s choice to shut her father out, but it wasn’t as though she could make her return his calls. Time continued to pass and Jade learned more than just how to control her ability. She learned how to cook and sew, she learned to crochet and she learned how to fix some of the more minor problems with vehicles. She learned how to make recipes from the Ivory Coast and Belgium and she learned about the history of her family. Everything that her father should have been there to teach her, he wasn’t. Still, he always sent money and when he did come into town, he stopped to visit, but those grew less and less frequent as time went on - though that could have been in large part to Jade simply refusing to see him. At sixteen, Jade’s father came to visit the family in Paris, a visit that saw him trying to make time with his daughter, but she really didn’t want any of it. Eventually, at the request of her grandparents, Jade gave in and agreed to go to lunch with him. He was trying to make an effort to be in her life now, or at least that was what he was saying. She let him talk, letting him think that she believed what he said, but actions spoke louder than words and his actions in the past had indicated that he would do anything other than keep his promise. Two weeks later, he left again, back out on the job, and Jade knew it would be quite some time until she heard from him again. Jade busied herself with her artwork, attempting to bring the things she saw in her dreams to life. It was shown several times throughout the city in different exhibits for up and coming artists, but she never really thought it would go beyond that. It was actually a couple years later at one of these exhibits, across the street from her grandmother’s coffee shop when Jade was convinced that she saw true beauty for the first time. There was a girl there, around her age, that was talking with her grandmother and there was an undeniable spark from the moment their hands touched in greeting. @dahliachambers was something different, something special, and what was more - Lynette seemed to really like her. There was nothing slow about the emotions that flew between them after that. The years seemed to flow by and Jade saw herself starting a life with Dahlia, selling her art and quickly getting her name around the world. She was twenty-three when that plan came crashing down around her. Her grandmother fell ill quickly and passed away even quicker after that. The funeral preparations were made swift and there was no doubt that Jade was incredibly grateful for the support that came with having Dahlia by her side. However, it seemed that losing her grandmother was not the only tragedy that was going to befall her. Shortly after, Dahlia broke up with Jade and disappeared without another word. This left the blond heartbroken and, for the first few weeks after their breakup, she controlled the dream world to make it seem as though they were still together, trying to convince herself that it was real and that they were still together. Her mother had taken up a job as a flight attendant, which left Jade with her grandfather. It was when his health took a turn that she had to stop focusing on the dreams she could manipulate and focus on the reality that she had lost control over. Over the course of the next year, her grandfather’s health deteriorated, until he too passed away. In the will it was found that they had left everything to Jade, something that caught the twenty-four year old off-guard. A letter was included, that they wanted her to follow her own dreams and teach art somewhere - anywhere. She did plenty of research into places around the world before she found Phalanx Home in New Orleans. It was a place for those with special abilities, people who had nowhere else to go or whose parents couldn’t afford to send them somewhere nicer. That was the place that she knew she wanted to go to and that was where she would make a difference. With the house in Paris paid off, Jade decided to keep it as a summer and vacation home, but has finally made the decision to move to Louisiana where she’s ready to take up the art position at Phalanx Home. the role player alias ♦ Sammi age ♦ 23 pronouns ♦ she/her/Khaleesi code ♦ Admin Edit other characters ♦ @killian @charlie @jett @julian @dylan @emery |
