Rowen MARCELLA Oswald the basics full name ♦ Rowen Marcella Oswald nicknames ♦ N/A age ♦ nineteen birthday ♦ September 16, 1996 occupation ♦ Home Ec Teacher - Phalanx school ♦ Past Primrose Student species ♦ human ability/power ♦ regenerative healing how the ability works ♦ Rowen’s cells divide at an accelerated rate, resulting in an accelerated healing factor. The quick production of cells also results in slowed aging, which will keep her young for many, many years. Rowen cannot use her healing factor on anyone else – blood transfusion tests have been performed on monkeys during her stint in the hospital. Tests never made it to human testing as once her blood is transfused into another, the red blood cells will clot and kill the subject. There are still ongoing tests, but as of right now they have been taken out of the animal testing phase. Though Rowen has a rapid healing rate, there are several things that can still affect her. She is not immune from disease (though she can recover faster than the average human). Rowen still requires basic sustenance to survive – more than average (the rapid cell regen. can prove to be really calorie burning. Rowen can put away some food, for real…). Any means of asphyxiation will kill Rowen (drowning, strangulation, etc.) as this cuts off blood supply to the brain – the main center that tells her body to regen cells. Decapitation will also, obviously, kill her. Inflicting too much damage before she has the chance to regenerate will also kill her. Depending on the injury, healing can take from minutes to hours. Accelerated healing does not equate to super pain suppression. Rowen has an average human pain tolerance. gender ♦ female sexuality ♦ heterosexual the appearance face claim ♦ Mary Elizabeth Winstead height and weight ♦ 5’7” and 135 lbs identifying features ♦ any scars, piercings, tattoos or birthmarks overall appearance ♦ Rowen tends to give off the appearance and aura of a worn out mother. Which she is. Rowen chopped off her dark brown hair to a medium length bob. Her dark eyes look tired often, as Rowen rarely gets enough sleep these days. Her once fair, glowing skin seems dulled from stress, though Rowen puts in the personality likes ♦ Spending time with Garrett, looking through old photos of her and Ethan, photography, doing handiwork around Phalanx dislikes ♦ that people think Ethan copped out, her family doesn't talk to her, that she's struggling to take care of Garrett, that feeling that she often has of being alone even in a crowded room strengths ♦ incredibly loving, is pretty much a human punching bag weaknesses ♦ Garrett, too loving/trusting, ignorant dreams ♦ to be normal fears ♦ one day she won’t be able to provide for Garrett; that she'll outlive her son. overall personality ♦Rowen is a very unstable woman right now. With the recent death of her fiancé, and birth of her baby boy Garret, she’s at her wits end. She’s entirely too trusting, and finds it incredibly hard to see the bad in people. Rowen likes to believe in the good of everyone, even when they continuously hurt her. She’s in constant denial that anyone would have a reason to use her. That gullibility leads to her (and her money) getting used a lot. She’s very calm, and there isn’t an angry bone in her body. She’s loving and extremely appreciative of her friends. Rowen tends to lather others in compliments, but when the tables turn to her being complimented she finds it hard to swallow. the history father ♦ James Beaumont Oswald II, 53 mother ♦ Antoinette (Anne) Clara Oswald, 50 siblings ♦ _______ _______ Oswald, 23, Brother ;; ________ ________ Oswald, 17, Sister important people ♦ Garrett James Oswald, 2, Son ;; hometown ♦ Aspen Springs, Colorado overall history ♦ Rowen, as many students of Primrose Academy, was born into a family of wealth. The woman was born with a silver spoon in her mouth. Rowen was born five years after her brother, and two years following her birth, James and Anne gave birth to another daughter, putting Rowen as the middle child. A lot of her life, Rowen felt like she was overlooked being that typical middle child. Her big brother overshadowed her accomplishments, her younger sister required more attention than she did. Rowen felt so average and dull compared to them. Even her powers weren’t that spectacular. It was an average winter when a nine-year-old Rowen Oswald was sent to the hospital over a broken arm. She had been riding her bike in the streets, and crashed after a particularly slick patch of ice. As a usual broken bone visit, the lab assistant takes several x-rays and they determine where to go from there. The particularly funny thing about Rowen’s x-ray’s, however, was that the bone seemed to be mending itself. Further tests were done, and over the course of four hours, the once compound fracture had been as if it never happened. Doctors were fascinated. The Oswald’s were moderately impressed. With their permission, they kept little Rowen overnight for observation. The following weeks and months Rowen would come to the hospital after school, for more tests. They took blood, bone marrow, saliva, whatever tissues they deemed the little nine-year-old could part with, and they would send her on her way as they furthered their research. Soon, the proper authorities were contacted, and the Oswald family pledged Rowen’s attendance to Primrose Academy the day she would turn 14. A year later, Rowen’s brother would show his first signs of extraordinary powers. As he was of age, he was sent to Primrose immediately. As promised, the day Rowen turned 14 she was on a plane to Louisiana. No birthday, no card, not so much as a “bye, see you in the summer.” Her brother was in his last year of schooling, so he didn’t pay her much attention either. Through her years of schooling Rowen was pretty much a shadow. She had maybe a few select friends, even then, they weren’t that close. It wasn't until Rowen met Ethan that she actually felt wanted. Rowen still complied with requests to study her abnormality, hoping that one day they could fix her. You know, curing cancer with her blood was the main goal and all, but she would rather just be normal, thank you very much. During her time at one of the hospitals, Rowen ran into patient Ethan Haynes. Ethan was unlike anyone Rowen had ever met. He listened to her, encouraged her to speak her mind, just paid attention to her, and treated her like she mattered. Rowen was smitten within their first conversation. Ethan asked to take out the girl on a date as soon as he left the hospital, and Rowen happily agreed. At the time she didn't want to pry about his reasons for being in the hospital, and when she asked later in their relationship, Ethan always seemed to brush it off. Rowen didn't pay too much attention to it after that, as she was hiding her own secret. Rowen just wanted to be normal. She didn't want Ethan to know about her special abilities. Their relationship blossomed as the two got older, the two had been together for two years when Rowen had to drop the bomb to Ethan. She was pregnant. This was a shock to Ethan, but he promised to stay by her side. He was amazing to Rowen, he took care of her when her family turned their backs on her, and loved her more each and every day. Nine months later, Garrett was born. Though Rowen's parents hated the 'bastard child' Rowen felt nothing but love for her little boy. Ethan was right there with her. And shortly after Garrett was born, Ethan asked Rowen to marry him. Her life couldn't get any better. Their engagement was long, it took almost a whole year to get everything planned, and be able to get the finance to put on the small shindig they wanted. Both of their families were invited, (though, of course the Oswald's were a no show) and all of their friends were excited to attend. It was finally a week before Rowen and Ethan were due to get married. This entire time, Rowen had kept her secret hidden. She knew she couldn't hide it any longer. She was going to marry this man, and that meant no secrets between them. She had to come clean. At first, Ethan thought Rowen was joking. A silly prank before their wedding, because obviously there were no such thing as humans with super powers. Until Rowen demonstrated for him. Ethan thought the woman had gone bat-shit insane when she took a kitchen knife and cut her own arm. He was screaming, and two beats away from calling the cops when he saw her seemingly deep cut close up right before his eyes. To say that he was shocked, was the understatement of the year. Rowen then had to explain about how for all these years she was going to a special school for people like her, and she profusely apologized for hiding this whole part of her life for this entire time. Somehow, Ethan forgave her. He brushed it off with a smile, and confirmed that he still loved her more than ever. Rowen couldn't believe her ears. She was still getting married to this perfect man. The next day a solemn-faced cop knocked on Rowen's door. Ethan was dead. He was hit by a car. Apparently he had attempted suicide before. It made this accident point toward a successful attempt this time. Rowen's heart shattered. Not only did the love of her life die, but everyone thought that it was because he was a coward. That he didn't want to live anymore. Rowen knew he wouldn't do that to her. Ethan wouldn't leave her. Not ever. Rowen now lives at the Phalanx Home, where she continues her studies and earns the tiniest income by helping out around the place with whatever odd jobs she can do. When she isn't in class or working, she's taking care of Garrett, who is now two. the role player alias ♦Aspen age ♦ 21 pronouns ♦ she/her code ♦ ADMIN EDIT other characters ♦ Kaleolani Evelyn Larson , Delilah Beck Adkins , Aden Kane Adkins , Bonnie Anita Dyer |
