Samuel Alabaster steele the basics full name ♦ Samuel Alabaster Steele nicknames ♦ Sam, (dislikes being called; Sammy) age ♦ Eighteen birthday ♦February 5th, 1998 occupation ♦ 'Mechanic' school ♦ Currently N/A, but is on a fast track to landing in Monroeville species ♦ Human ability/power ♦ Telekinesis how the ability works ♦ Sam is able to control and move things with his mind. He is able to pull objects within sight toward him, or push them away from him with great force. Using this telekinetic force he is also able to augment the power of his own punches, lift his own body to jump higher, and send out crippling "blasts" of energy. Currently, he is able to lift/push/pull about half a ton This is a very simple explanation to what is normally a deeper and more complex power due to the fact that so far this is all Sam knows how to do. Though he has the potential to be powerful, his lack of training (and accidents that have happened) only make him afraid of exploring deeper into what he can do. Which only makes his power more dangerous to himself and those around him, it's a bit of a vicious cycle. Despite his power being the use of his 'mind', Sam HAS to be able to move his hands in order to use it. If his hands and fingers are bound from movement, he can't do anything. In combat, this also gives a heads up to anyone alert enough to notice that his hand/body movements are directly tied to what he is about to do. Also, his control over his powers is very raw, it is incredibly difficult to do minute or small movements. I.e; it is very easy for him to push a car out of the way, but it is almost impossible for him to pull a toothpick out of a toothpick holder using his power (without exploding the toothpick holder and whatever is near it as well). The smaller, or heavier, an object is the more mental strain it puts on him, exhausting him quickly due to his inexperience. As such, attempting to move people is almost certain to be fatal to the person, as moving inanimate objects usually crushes them. Only recently Sam has learned how to propel himself as he jumps in order to jump to great heights, though he can't sustain himself in the air without injury. Also, attempting to propel someone else in the air, once again, would likely kill them. Lastly, his power is almost directly tied to his emotions. Any extreme emotional swings can cause dangerous "discharges" of telekinetic energy. It doesn't matter what the emotion is either; anger, sadness, happiness, laughter, lust... Anything that becomes too powerful causes his power to fluctuate greatly, once more making it dangerous to everyone around him and himself. Needless to say, the fact that these powers are in the hands of a hormonal eighteen-year old doesn't bode well. It is possible with plenty of training and time, he could gain control of these many limitations and increase his abilities, but his fear of hurting others makes it difficult to progress his skills. gender ♦ Male/ He-Him sexuality ♦ Heterosexual the appearance face claim ♦ Luke Bilyk height and weight ♦ 6'1", 180lbs identifying features ♦ His right leg has a long scar across the length of it, and his chest and back are covered with various small marks and scars. overall appearance ♦ Tall and fit, with dark brown hair, olive-skin, and dark features. At least that's what most people notice about him immediately. His dark hazel eyes are usually fairly bright and playful, though as of late seem to look more tired than anything. He generally keeps his hair fairly short and well groomed, though he despises shaving and can sometimes be seen with a bit of scraggly hair on his chin. Most often he wears fairly simple, but dark, clothing. Blue jeans with a black t-shirt, black leather jackets and t-shirts, etc. Many would describe his style as retro, looking like a scrapper from the 40's and 50's. Though he keeps himself groomed, he is usually dirty as well, or scuffed up, looking like someone who just got out of a back alley fight because... well... let's face it, he probably did. A fairly noticeable trait of his appearance, is that when he uses his powers, his eyes glow with an unnaturally dark red light. This color mimics the color of the aura around his hands when using his powers, and around anything his powers are touching. It makes it incredibly obvious he is not normal which makes it impossible for him to use his powers in public, or "sneakily". the personality likes ♦ -Video Games -Girls... (Especially the single and willing kind) -Flirting -The Smell of Gasoline -Cars -A good verbal battle -Deep Fried Pickles -Puppies... What, they're so damn cute! -Winning... anything dislikes ♦ -His father -People that flaunt wealth -Wealthy people in general -Country Music -Losing control -Mustard -Being shown up -Losing... anything strengths ♦ -Very confident in himself and his environment -Very quick witted weaknesses ♦ -Very easily angered (which is dangerous to himself) -Heroic tendencies, in the worst possible moments he does the right thing dreams ♦ To overcome being associated with his father, To be normal fears ♦ Killing someone he loves because he can't control himself, his father... and clowns, those bastards deserve to die. overall personality ♦ Playful, sarcastic, competitive, and incredibly flirtatious, those are probably the most obvious traits the people notice about Sam. He is always cracking a joke about something, and his humor often tends to be quite dark. The constant joking is closely tied to his competitive nature as well, he often uses his quips to distract anyone confronting him. Largely though, this is his way of coping with any situation, is to make fun of it. Fear? Make fun of it. Sadness? Make fun of it. Anger? Make fun of it. So on and so forth. In this way, he can keep his emotions in check and avoid the risk of losing control. Much like his powers though, there is more to him than meets the eye. Also like his powers, beneath the surface of 'control', it is much more volatile. He can be incredibly violent, sometimes downright cruel when he feels he has been wronged; or defending someone who has. Add on top of that a very opportunistic nature, and you get a bad combination. There is very little moral trouble for him when it comes to things like stealing, cheating, or taking advantage of someone. At the same time, he hates to see someone who can't defend themselves being wronged. Against his better nature, he always ends up trying to help the downtrodden. In order to satisfy both sides of him, he usually ends up taking his aggression out on the 'privileged'. Needless to say, there is more to him than being an obnoxiously cocky, flirtatious, smart aleck... he can also be a jerk! the history father ♦ James Alabaster Steele, 47, Businessman/Crime Boss mother ♦ Samantha Steele, Deceased siblings ♦ James Steele Jr., 17, Brother, Student Ailyn Steele, 15, Sister, Student Rose Steele, 14, Sister, Student important people ♦ Bill Strait, 41, Bodyguard/friend hometown ♦ Queens, New York overall history ♦ Born the oldest son to Samantha and James A. Steele, owner of Steele Industries., and one of the more wealthy families of New York. They owned a very large, penthouse apartment in Queen and it was in those streets that Samuel grew up. To say he had a privileged life growing up would be an understatement. Spoiled with gifts, constantly traveling the world, it was a life to make anyone envious. In only a few short years after he was born, the family grew to four, then five, and finally six with his brother and sisters. His mother was an angel, one of the sweetest people alive, and instantly made friends with anyone she met. James, however, wasn't quite the same. Though he always treated his children kindly, the older the got, the less he had to do with them. He was known as being almost emotionless, cold, and even cruel in business. It was nothing he ever showed them though, in fact, he never spoke of or really revealed what he exactly did with business. Preferring to keep his family and job separate. As the years rolled on, his father grew more and more distant. Both emotionally, and physically; sometimes being gone on 'business' trips for months at a time. To make matters even more strange, he hired a several men to live in his house and constantly monitor and guard the family. The children though nothing of it, and though it made Samantha very uneasy, she never revealed it and only devoted more time to her children. From a young age, Sam enjoyed playing in and exploring the neighborhood. His mother often sent one of the bodyguards with Sam, named Bill Strait. Bill would accompany Sam all across Queens, and the rest of New York for the matter, and the two grew to be quite close. As Sam got older, as most kids do, he began to grow more reckless and rebellious; sneaking out of his house for the first time when he was only nine years old. Which was even more impressive considering they lived on the 10th floor. Spending so much time in the streets at a young age at night, he learned quickly about where to go and not to go. Though he would occasionally come home a little scuffed up or dirtier than when he left, he was never caught. Life continued as normal and largely following this cycle, until Sam was around 14 years old. One night, he got caught. Turns out Bill always knew that Sam was escaping and would silently follow him. When Sam started hanging out with the wrong crowd and got a little roughed up one night, Bill returned to let Samantha know. So when Sam got home, his mom was waiting. She started chastising him, which turned into a fairly normal for his age, albeit loud, argument. Sam was growing angrier and angrier until suddenly, the window he had crawled through exploded behind him. Bill rushed outside, gun drawn, but there was no one there. It was a mystery to everyone why it happened, except his mom. She began watching Sam a bit closer. Sure enough, less than a few days later, Sam and his brother were in the kitchen laughing hysterically to a video they were watching online when the kitchen table suddenly collapsed as if an elephant had sat on it. As the days went on, more strange things began to happen, exploding tables, doors, glasses, and couches became the norm until one night his mother came to speak with him. She explained that his father had the same abilities, and that she knew that they were tied to his emotions so he had to keep them in control. Though she knew little about the powers, she said she would talk to his father and see if he could help the next time he was home. Several weeks passed, and Sam tried desperately to control his emotions (which is harder than you'd think for a 14 year old boy). Until his father finally came home late one evening. That night, Sam sat outside their bedroom door, listening to the muffled conversation. Though he couldn't understand them, he could tell it was quickly becoming more and more heated; and was obviously about Sam. It sounded like they were screaming at each other, which sadly had become the norm every time his father came home, until he heard his mom yell 'stop'. Sam slowly opened the door to see his dad standing over his mom with his fist raised. He killed jumped into the room, raised his hand and yelled stop. At that same moment a blast of energy exploded from his hands moving everything in the room and throwing both his mom and dad against the wall. His father spent a few days in the hospital, unfortunately for his mother, most of the bones in her body had been shattered and she didn't make it. The newspapers said it was a gas leak. His father's company sued the apartment complex, and they moved to a larger penthouse in downtown New York; though all the family knew the truth. After his mothers funeral, much changed. His father stayed home more, but was cold, and even cruel at times. Though he was as emotionless as ever, it was obvious he was angry most of the time. He took the time to train Sam occasionally, but only enough so that he didn't kill everyone in the house; otherwise he had little to do with him. At times, he would take his anger out verbally, but this slowly grew to be physical. Though he wanted to take it out on Sam, due to his powers he never did, and instead took it out on his siblings; which Sam was constantly defending. Sam only ever stayed home when his dad was there, to protect his sisters and brother (who he had a very strained relationship with after), but otherwise was out on the town; taking his sisters out of the house with Bill. As Sam got older, he spent more time in the streets and eventually the alleys of New York, unable to stand his father or the company he kept. Strangely enough, Sam began to realize that the more dangerous and darker the people he hung out with; the more they had heard of his father. Sam began investigating, following his father, talking around town and quickly found the truth. His father had his fingers in everything, from legitimate business, to drug deals, prostitution, human trafficking, and even foreign weapons trades. So there had been a reason he never let his family know anything about his job; he was a crime boss. Shortly before Sam's 18th birthday (which were only ever acknowledged by his sisters), his father got particularly violent after an apparently bad business deal. The man had began to use his powers to punish his own children, when Sam stepped forward. He threatened his father, showing him everything he had learned and said he would go to the police and the government if he ever laid a finger on his sisters again. The ultimatum sent James over the edge, as he had always considered Sam a threat to his business and now it was made clear. The fight between them was physical at first, but quickly moved on to using their powers. Sam barely made it out with his life and disappeared into the alleys of downtown New York. His father put out the word to find him and the first person that did, after a few days, was Bill. Instead of doing what he was ordered though, Bill explained the situation to Sam, gave him a few hundred dollars and a one way bus ticket to New Orleans. He said he would make sure his siblings got down there eventually too, and that he couldn't come back to New York. It was an opportunity Sam couldn't refuse, not like he had the choice to anyways. So he left New York, and showed up in the bustling streets of New Orleans. It was a culture shock to say the least, but a city is a city and Sam knew how to survive on the streets. With no other option, he took to living in homeless shelters and stealing what he needed. In a short time though, he was able to find work at a local mechanic shop. Though he isn't doing as much mechanic work as bringing in stolen cars and stripping them of anything valuable. In the dark alleys he heard whispers that New Orleans had other people like him in it... and that it had a special place where "dangerous" people were sent. That wasn't very comforting to him considering how volatile his "episodes" were. He had gone to New Orleans to escape trouble, but as the months rolled on it would seem he had only been one more rebel thrust between the interests of many more... the role player alias ♦ Mastermind age ♦ 24 pronouns ♦ He/Him code ♦ ADMIN EDIT other characters ♦ This be me first |
