casey foster the basics full name ♦ casey jaimison foster nicknames ♦ case, cj age ♦ eighteen birthday ♦ august 14th, 1997 occupation ♦ barista in a coffee shop ability/power ♦ n/a species ♦ skinwalker how the ability works ♦ cj can make himself look like another person. it can be pretty cool, but sometimes, it's more of an inconvenience. if you've never turned into a hot girl while trying to flirt with her, you don't understand. he can't do it to anyone. he has to have seen the person-- not in person, but with his own eyes. that means that you can't just come up to him and ask him to play a creepy prank on your ex-boyfriend by describing the guy's physical appearance in great detail. words can be misconstrued, and adjectives are usually relative. he needs to see the person for himself. it's also entirely consuming, requiring concentration and strength. while cj is taking on another form, he is investing the majority of his body's energy to maintain it. moreover, the ability is not at its highest potential for accuracy or efficiency while he is tired, ill, distracted, or anything of the like. over time, he has gotten better at focusing his energy while morphing, though this ability is far from flawless. he tends to begin to take the appearance of someone whom his attention is honed on. if he likes your eyes, you may see his eyes begin to change. if he thinks that your hair is messy, his hair will start to change shape and color. emotion is always a strong trigger, negative emotions often being more effective enablers. cj can only maintain a foreign form for about ten minutes before it begins to drain his body of energy. the draining works exponentially, slowly at first and more drastically with each minute after. gender ♦ male sexuality ♦ heterosexual the appearance face claim ♦ george blagden height and weight ♦ 5'9" and 153 lbs identifying features ♦ tattoo of a triskelion on his left forearm overall appearance ♦ casey is a very disheveled young man. he's the kind of guy whose shirt is always half-tucked into his pants. he comes from fairly direct Welsh, Scottish, and Italian decent, gifting him of light hazel eyes and brown, curly hair that's almost always stuffed under a beanie. he's a lanky guy, lacking in the muscle department despite what he will claim. he has a triskelion tattooed on his arm and is very proud of it, seeing it as a reminder of his Welsh heritage. he didn't grow up poor, but he wasn't wealthy either, and his clothing reflects this, often looking very worn and faded. the personality likes ♦ coffee, reading comic books, blasting music, people with a sense of humor, history, playing guitar, singing dislikes ♦ rain, people that chew loudly, scarves, being quiet, staying still strengths ♦ making fancy coffees, reading people weaknesses ♦ writing coherently, keeping organized dreams ♦ to graduate college with any degree fears ♦ ending up as someone's science experiment because of his ability overall personality ♦ cj is spastic, mouthy, and good-humored. he can worry a little too much sometimes and when he does, he can't hide it. he can't hide anything, really, being cursed with the inability to keep secrets or hide his own. he trusts people very easily and is willing to be friendly with almost anyone, though regaining his trust after losing it is nearly impossible. he is very impatient and always moving around, making him a great candidate for working part-time in a coffeeshop where he takes orders and makes drinks. the friendly, loud guy is what everyone knows about. those who get to know casey become painfully aware of his stubbornness and expression. he's incredibly driven, willing to do anything, no matter how stupid, to get what he wants. this can be a great trait if he likes you, or a terrifying one if he doesn't. the history father ♦ george foster, fifty-four, architect mother ♦ leah calder foster, fifty-one, ASL professor siblings ♦ none important people ♦ anyone else important, from family to close friends hometown ♦ born in cardiff, wales overall history ♦ growing up was an entirely quiet experience for cj. he was raised by two deaf parents in a Welsh deaf community. they moved to America specifically for Phalanx when cj was ten, making him the only kid in his hearing middle school to be fluent in British and American Sign Language... and not so much in English. it took him a few years of speech therapy to get the language down comfortably. sometimes, his comprehension is poor and his grammar is awful, but these are just about the only visible signs of his situation. those-- and the fact that his hands are always signing out of force of habit. he spent a lot of time outside of his small home, wanting to be around people who would speak to him and receive his verbal communication, no matter how sporadic his word vomit tends to be. if anyone had asked him if he was enough of a freak by the time he was ten, he'd have confirmed that being able to change his physiology was an unnecessary addition of burden. the first time it happened, he was having an argument with his mother. he had meant to get her off his case about his grades-- but achieved quite the opposite when he became her. for future reference, if you ever want your parents to leave you alone, try to refrain from becoming inhuman. it took a while for him to figure it out, but his parents managed to find out about the Phalanx Home via word of mouth. getting to the place basically made cj's life. it was nice to see that he wasn't the only person in the world who could do something that he couldn't understand. he learned to wreak havoc with the ability, knowing how to use it in order to manipulate people into doing what he wants them to. he hasn't told anyone directly that he's a skinwalker, but a small handful of people have been permitted to see the ability in action. it's a conversation he doesn't know how to have with people, but being a social person has helped him a lot in coping with the abnormality. the role player alias ♦ flix age ♦ twenty one pronouns ♦ she code ♦ Admin Edit other characters ♦ n/a |
