The nickname follows Amy Liberty wherever she goes, cooed endearingly by her loved ones, sneered by her enemies. It even went under her name in her grade school yearbook: "Most likely to descend from a royal lineage." And boy, does Amy live up to the reputation. Amethyst carries herself like a sweetheart, as careful with her public behavior as a true royal, ensuring that her name can never be smeared. She is never overtly cruel. In fact, on the surface, she seems perfectly kind. No one could prove that she is emotionally manipulative. There is no concrete evidence that she gets off on making others feel guilty every chance she gets so that they'll put her on a pedestal, make her the center of their worlds, grant her the attention she so craves. It would be tough to make the case that she uses her empathic abilities to goad people's insecurities and make herself feel superior. But it's all true. She's not malicious, and she doesn't mean to be self-centered. She wants to grow up, but she doesn't always succeed. Amy is stubborn as all hell, always insisting on getting her way. If she wants to believe that the sky is purple, no one is convincing her otherwise. The obstinacy is part of her charm, but it also feeds into her reputation of being a spoiled brat. An only child, accustomed to being the center of attention, Amy is upbeat and confident, always striving to be liked and to make people happy. She is not loud, as it would not fit into the sweet, demure persona that she relies on to make people like her. But she is a social butterfly, always trying to make everyone feel included. Having been married and divorced before she could even legally drive, Amy is deeply fearful of commitment. She won't allow herself to feel strongly for someone, fearing that she'll fall too quickly and put herself in the same toxic situation as the first time, where she basically drove a boy to a suicide attempt. the history father ♦ James Liberty, 42, lawyer mother ♦ Karen Liberty, homemaker, deceased at 29 siblings ♦ Tamsyn Willow, half-sister important people ♦ Keil Chase (ex-husband), Zeroun Turner (father of her child), Sara Turner (frenemy), Masa Dearheart (friend), _____ Turner (child) hometown ♦ Milou, France, where she attended Academie de Milou, grade K-10 boarding school for the gifted overall history ♦ From birth, Amy was spoiled and coddled. The only child of James and Karen Liberty, she grew up getting everything she asked for. James, who abandoned his first family, was especially adoring to Amy, trying to make up for the affection he never gave to Tamsyn, the daughter he had with his first wife, Katherine. Amy felt no sympathy for Tamsyn, who she only saw as a threat to her idyllic childhood. Amy exaggerated some childish incident where Tamsyn shoved her in a sandbox, making it out to be a violent altercation, and the half-sister was never allowed in their home again. "High school sweethearts." It made sense for popular, self-centered Amy to date a boy who struggled with mental health and saw his lovely, popular, sweet girlfriend as the only light in his life. High school sweethearts is where it should have ended, but Princess Amy, fourteen years old, who always got her way, insisted that they were IN LOVE. Keil Chase, also fourteen, was too meek and enamored with his girl to protest, even though he did have the better sense, deep down. Both Amy and Keil came from wealthy, well-connected families, and since pedigrees were the only thing that mattered to their parents, the adults who should have known better threw their hands up and said "Why not?" Keil and Amy were married. At fourteen. Not shockingly to anyone, the outcome of the adolescent marriage was dismal. It did not take long for Amy to feel trapped. She threatened divorce over and over again, worsening Keil's depression. It was Keil's suicide attempt, which followed Amy's infidelity, that ended the year-long marriage. The adults in the situation finally gained some sense, helped the teens dissolve the senseless marriage, and got Keil the help he needed. Zeroun Turner, Keil's best friend, never liked Amy. Never. He saw her as a toxic influence in Keil's life. He believed she preyed on Keil's instability to satiate her own craving for attention. Amy wasn't Zero's biggest fan either, mostly because he didn't worship her like the rest of the school. But in that tiny French academy, it was hard not to see everyone as family. On some weird level, Amy and Zero cared for each other. Respected each other, even. And even deeper than that, they challenged each other. Surprisingly, the group of friends kept in touch, even after they all graduated from Academie de Milou. "God, Amy, four years later, and you're STILL manipulating him! You're STILL stringing him along like a toy!" Zero shouted, locked in a bathroom in Masa Dearheart's residence with Amy, away from the rest of the social gathering. "Screw you, Zero! I was just a kid! We all were. I was as much a victim of it all as he was. They let us get married at fourteen!" "A victim! What a hoot. Poor, poor, Princess Amy." "You're an unemotional, borderline sociopath jerk!" "Yeah, well, you're a spoiled, self-centered princess!" And that was how the love-hate child that no one saw coming happened. the role player alias ♦ Anna age ♦ if you'd like pronouns ♦ so we don't misgender you by accident code ♦ the one in the rules other characters ♦ if any |
