robyn sterling walsh the basics full name ♦ robyn sterling walsh nicknames ♦ robie, boy wonder age ♦ 19 birthday ♦ May 19th occupation ♦ trust fund kid / Primrose Academy ability/power ♦ pigment manipulation how the ability works ♦ Robyn can mess with colors. He can change colors of most things. Robyn can take color away or change it. It just takes a touch. He needs to be in contact with the object to effect it. To change colors it's as simple as him thinking of what color he would rather have. When taking color away it looks like he is sucking up the pigment leaving the object white. The effects are permanent, unless the object it living (like a plant). What hinders his ability is if the thing is living. He can't change skin colors, but can shift colors of hair up to right before the follicle. He had learned how to change grass but any more complex plant he can't. Generally his abilities do fallow his mood, when angry most things he touches will turn black. When sad he will take the colors from things leaving them white. Robyn also tends to loose his control when he is having an attack and is focused on the vertigo. When that happens most things he grabs start to flash through the color spectrum. He is working on figuring out how to use his ability as a form of camouflage but it is slow going. Mostly because he has a hard time with patterns. the more complex the pattern the less he can effect it. More it would just be changing everything color by color and that can just be annoying. Robyn found out about his ability when he was eight, the day after his first vertigo/tinnitus attack and he woke up in the hospital. That was also the day he learned that he had the same degenerative hearing problems that his father had. He should have seen it coming but still it hit the right year old like a ton of bricks and it was that moment where the grey blue hospital blanket had all its color drained. Left stark white like the sheets and walls in the room. Robyn was shocked at what he was seeing. Yes his mom could do amazing things with light but that wasn't what this was. But here he was loosing his hearing but gaining something else. species ♦ human gender ♦ male sexuality ♦ homosexual the appearance face claim ♦ patty walters height and weight ♦ 5' 6" around 130lbs identifying features ♦various tattoos mostly on his legs. And a smaller one on the side of his wrist. He has scars on his scalp above and behind his ears from surgeries he has had to have. Also a nose piercing and his ears streached overall appearance ♦ Robyn is on the smaller side, not being very tall for a boy and also thin. From the age of fourteen he has stuck to almost a completely vegan diet because of health restrictions, making sure to work closely with a nutritionist. He is a blonde with blue eyes and an infectious smile. Also he does have to wear a hearing aid in his left ear. He has gone through using one on only the right and wear two before his last big attack and is now just down to the one ear. the personality likes ♦ flirting, marvel comics, video games, clubs dislikes ♦ people thinking that yelling at him is the way to go, having his time wasted, sour foods, being alone strengths ♦ sign language, lip reading, confidant weaknesses ♦ attention whore, cute men dreams ♦ to be happy with himself fears ♦ being alone overall personality ♦ Robyn first and for most is rather in your face. He lays it all out the moment that he meets someone. Robyn is the type of person who generally has no patients for people he feels will just waist his time or not mean anything to him. So that is why he is 'you get what you see'. It's not that he thinks he is better than anyone it's just he doesn't want to stumble through the idea that he needs to cater to everyone liking him. Robyn knows he is a bit much but there was never a time that he didn't feel that being himself wasn't the best route. He likes to think that he leads a happy life. He was a kid with a silver spoon but wasn't much for flaunting that fact. Not that he denied the fact that summers were made of being over sees dining at the best restaurants and having the means to have whatever he wanted. Still Robyn does his best to just do his thing. Even if he has not much of an idea about what he wants to do with his life Robyn would rather not whine and turn to his parents. Robyn figures that it's best to focus on the things that make him happy no matter how simple. Robyn can be very touch and go. It's like a one strike bases with him. Mostly because Robyn has found people are a lot more trouble than they are worth most of the time. So he knows many people but is truly friends with a few. It is the same when it comes to love too. Robyn goes out to pick up people but it's never to find love. He would much rather put himself out there for a night of fun that putting effort twords love. Truly it's mostly because of an insecurity he has. Robyn is sure that no one will want to deal with going through his problems with him. Robyn is hard of hearing, all of the hearing in his left ear is gone and so is most in his right. He had been wearing a hearing aid sense he was eight. Robyn knows that most likely he will loose all of his hearing eventually. He is stubborn about not letting his hearing beat him. His condition makes it so he wouldn't be able to wear an implant after it is all said and done. It is something that he deals with on his own, even though his father is deaf. In part it is because of his stubbornness, the other is his father was deaf by eight were as Robyn can still hear and has been having procedures to keep it that way. Or at least try to. the history father ♦ Jade Walsh, 43, investor mother ♦ Sparrow Walsh, 43, Model siblings ♦ Onyx Walsh, 19, sister Jett Walsh, 17, sister important people ♦ n/a hometown ♦ brooklyn, New York overall history ♦“ Mama, mama did you know you’re beautiful?” A smiling little blond boy was tugging at the bottom of her shirt as she stirred the rice that was cooking in the pan. “Mama it’s true.” He reiterated. She smiled down at him. “Thank you baby.” “Oh you’re welcome, Mama can I have someone to marry that is as beautiful as you?” He then asked scampering over to one of the chairs that circled the dark wood kitchen table. He climbed up and sat there wagging his feet as he waited for an answer, socks mismatched and one slipping slowly down, hanging half off his foot. “Of course Robyn, you can marry whoever you want to, someone who makes you happy.” Sparrow was always dressed to the nines, clothes that fit her impeccably, ruby lipstick to match her fire engine hair. Robyn never knew a time when his mother had a different hair color. “Really!?” His eyes lit up at the possibility. “Cause there is this boy, Logan and he gave me a dandelion the other day” “As long as he is good to you Robie.” Sparrow was still preparing dinner, but listening to every word her little boy was saying. “Yes, we play at recess and even are partners for some things in class.” It was true kindergarden love. ----- “Can I see Robyn?” In her little hand was a piece of paper. The corner was crumpled from the death grip that Jett had on the crayon drawing the whole way to the hospital. The night before Jett had found her brother on the bathroom floor he was whimpering as he curled up in a ball, the rug that had been a bright yellow now white as Robyn clutched to it. Of course the youngest Walsh child panicked not knowing what was going on. So she ran to her parents barely able to form a full sentence between breaths. Luckily their dad was home, honestly Sparrow was a mess when she saw her little boy on the floor. Jade having to move their son so they could get a to a hospital. As soon as Robyn was lifted he groaned and hurled, soiling his dad’s shirt. It didn’t matter all Jade was focused on was getting Robyn help, gently talking to his son, asking what was wrong. Robyn could barely make a coherent thought. Jett remembered fallowing holding tightly to her mother’s hand as she called for Onyx to get shoes on and that they needed to go. Robyn’s voice was a muffle against their dad’s arm. Her brother had been kept over night. Jett had a hard time sleeping worrying about Robyn so she pulled out her crayons and paper and drew a picture. That morning she waved it in her mom’s face. “Can he keep it next to the bed?” “If he has to stay longer then I’m sure he can.” “Oh well I hope he gets to come home but if not Robie will have the family with him.” She smiled proud of each depiction of her family members. Scraggly writing labeling the stick figures. -- Fourteen was a strange age for a boy who was always very in touch with attraction. Mostly he was made of confidence but sitting and looking at the new hearing aid in his hand had Robyn just lost. Also he was at a new school, one that his mother had gone too because of her ability. His parents were there helping him set up the room he would git for the school year at Primrose. His dad walked in the room and sat down on the bed next to him. “You can’t keep losing those.” He said gently putting a hand on his son’s shoulder. ASL was a constant in his life, Jade being deaf so the children had all learned from a young age. Of course Jade felt guilty knowing that Robyn had inherited the degenerative disease that he had. But He knew his son was a strong boy, and really he was lucky having a family that knew what came with this. “Yeah…” Was all Robyn responded with. Fourteen and he had to wear two hearing aids, on top of randomly sucking the color from things that he touched. There was no chance for a cochlear implant. Not when his body was literally destroying the inner ear on both sides. He knew that it was a matter of time, he would lose it all and what then? He knew that he shouldn’t act like it was the end of the world, he had ASL he knew some lip reading, or at least was working on it. A supportive family even. But silence was so daunting. Even his father wasn’t that much comfort. “I know I can’t say much but it will be okay,” Jade always had a hard time knowing what to say when his kids were upset. He wanted them to be happy but life wasn't fair and how do you let your kids know that? “It’s fine dad,” He gave a weak smile to his father and put on the new aid, clicking it on so the noises of the world could come flooding in again. “Thanks.” Robyn leaned over and gave Jade a hug before standing up and going back to bringing in boxes to his new room. -- Lucas was a boy that Robyn had met in London. He spent a month in the country with his family over summer break. Again it was because his father had business there. The house they lived in was something comped by the company. He met him on the tube. Onyx was talking to him, trying to pick the boy up. Robyn standing next to his sister just waiting for the boy to hand her his number. That is normally what happened. Instead Lucas asked about Robyn, who was actually caught off guard but swiftly turned on his charm. Lucas was the first serious thing that Robyn could honestly say he had. It was a month of an actual relationship. Robyn breaking it off before he had to head back to the states, where he would get a weekend in Brooklyn and then off to New Orleans to attend Primrose again and learn more about controlling yet another thing that made him different in this world. “We can make this work,” Lucas pleaded. “Luc...don’t do this. We are an ocean away not just miles.” Robyn couldn’t look the boy in the face. “Why don’t you want to try?” “Don’t you do that.” He frowned finally matching eye contact. “Thank you for this month but … if we happen to find each other again…” “Really? Going to pull that if it was meant to be bullshit with me Robyn?” “Well!? What else do you want me to do?” “Actually give a shit about me?” “Lucas. I do, don’t tell me how I feel.” “No...Robyn you don’t you're selfish and needy and I was stupid to think that once you had an out you wouldn’t take it. Have a nice life,” Lucas stood up and left the cafe with a half full coffee still there not finished. Robie just stared at the coffee where the dark blue mug was slowly turning white, really he needed t break it off because he was scared. Maybe they could have made it work but Robyn knew better than to think that someone would want to go through dealing with his hearing loss. And plus what about his ability? He had heard about people who would practically hunt down people who where different. Who really wanted to adjust their lives to someone who was deaf when they met when he was hearing? Learning sign language remembering to always be in his line of sight when they wanted to talk, an alarm clock that shook the bed like an earthquake because he couldn’t hear the screeching? Lucas might have been mad but Robyn was just saving them both. It might have been selfish, but who wants to be the jack ass who felt obligated to stay with the Deaf kid? -- Onyx had just finished her make up, her eyeliner perfect and winged, lipstick dark and deadly. Robyn stepping into his twin’s room with a smirk. “You are going to literally make these boys drop dead from looking at you” He complimented her. “I’ve also been brushing up on my french too." Onyx smirked over her shoulder “Because you need your tongue to be as sharp as your heels?” He teased. Another summer in Europe, but by now it was just normal. Jett was settled for the night. Dad was late at a meetinging and Mom had fallen asleep on the couch watching some movie. Robyn and Onyx were going to paint the town red as they often did. It was a game they would play, betting each other that they could get the most numbers, or offers. More than once did they just take those offers right then and there before leaving the club. Hell half the people they would talk to couldn’t speak english and Robyn only had a handful of French in his arsenal. This time though they didn’t make it to the club. A block away from the hotel Robyn could hear a roar that only got louder and then suddenly it felt like the ground had turned to jello beneath his feet. Bracing himself against the wall all he could do was just repeat his sisters name. This was the fifth bad attack he had in his life. The dumbest part was he actually believed that the anti vertigo and steroid cocktail they had him on would work. He should have known better. Waking up in a French hospital wasn’t as exciting as it sounds. Not after a night of puking until he couldn’t anymore and just feeling like he was being tossed on a ship all while hearing the remaining tones his ear could still pick up go out one by one. The room was stark ,as all hospital rooms were, but the area around him was especially white. Onyx was asleep in the corner, still in the outfit from last night. The tv was on but he just saw mouths moving, luckily the closed captioning was on. He hadn’t lost it all, he learned that his left ear was finally gone, and the right had started to go . Robyn was sure they still had to drain fluid, give him a new prescription reiterate the importance of his diet, the whole list. It was the same every time. Doctors saying if he stuck to it he should be fine. But here he was with six bad attacks and barely any hearing left. -- Daniel was the first person that Robyn could honestly say he loved. He was a weightier, they were both seventeen. He and Jett had decided to make a weekend for themselves, getting a room in the heart of the city and enjoying nice restaurants. Of course all on their parents dime. It was during lunch one day that he met him. Robyn leaving his number for Daniel on the receipt after signing his name. He was some wanna be dj in his free time. Loved going to edm festivals and 'living in the music'. Everything that this new generation of free love and drugs promised to be. Still he loved him. The way Daniel was vegan because it was a choice of his not because of dietary restrictions like himself. How he said it was beautiful that Robyn could hear someone’s soul more than their voice. They dated for the better part of a year and then his first big attack happened while they had been dating. Early on a Friday. Robyn fell over in the shower and Daniel came to his side, Robyn having stayed over that night. He threw up on him. Waking up in hospitals was starting to get old. Even if he didn’t have to do it as much as some, it still was annoying. He hated to go when he was scheduled but just waking up in one was a whole different kind of annoying. What was worse was the news that he knew he would be getting this time. It was too obvious when his mom was talking and he couldn’t hear anything she was saying. Of course his parents were their, they were always there when he woke up from something like this. Good news, they said, there was still something left, just continue to wear the hearing aid. But it wasn't that good, Robyn only had half of his right ear left. Without the hearing aid it was like he might have well been completely deaf, it would be better that way. Instead of white his blanket was black, he was pissed and just over all of this. Daniel stuck with him for one more week, but after that he was done. So much for how much he loved the idea of speaking with your hands. Not having to deal with the white noise of the world. And being able to tap into people’s souls because he could really see them. In the end he lived up to the expectations Robyn had for when he would finally lose his hearing completely. When he read through his note he just laughed. For a full ten minutes he laughed. Jett had come to his room that day, reading over the not she scrunched up her nose. She called Daniel a twat and admitted to never liking him. Dan was the last person he ever had a relationship with. From there it was just flings, one night stands and even hooking up in bathrooms. It's been a year and mostly Robyn is just going through the motions of being at Primrose, caring about the control his teachers all say he needs to have. Mostly he just wants to move back to New York already and get away from all the disappointment New Orleans ended up to be. the role player alias ♦ Alice age ♦ 25 pronouns ♦ he/him or she/her even they/ them if you must code ♦ Admin edit other characters ♦ @parker |
