DEANDRA PYEONG the basics TRIGGER WARNING: HOMOPHOBIA/BULLYING full name ♦ Dayoung Pyeong (Deandra Pyeong) - goes by Doxy nicknames ♦ Doxy, please, not Dee, and especially not Dee-Dee... age ♦ seventeen birthday ♦ April 27th, 1998 occupation ♦ Primrose student school ♦ Primrose Academy species ♦ human ability/power ♦ elasticity how the ability works ♦ Being a "rubber human" has many perks, and Doxy likes to use them all. Elasticity allows her to stretch, contract, deform, expand, inflate, and otherwise manipulate her bodily structure. This grants her almost limitless flexibility, and she can currently stretch any body part up to 20m. Since her body can be practically liquid, she also tends to bounce off easily from physical attacks and thus blunt force won't hurt as much. She can also shift her internal structure, so even what could possibly be a fatal attack could be blocked by layers upon layers of stretched skin, or even fashion herself into strange shapes. Of course, not everything is always golden in rubber girl world. Stretching beyond her optimal limit or for two long can cause severe intense pain and possibly stretch the limb permanently (yeah, she has one arm that's a littttttttle longer than the other...) Though she can avoid it somewhat, she is not immune to damage, and bladed weapons are especially effective. Falling from great heights or hitting something at great speed does not guarantee her still being safe after, she isn't invincible. Clothes obviously will not stretch with her, so she has to be careful not to rip them. gender ♦ female (she/her) sexuality ♦ homoflexible the appearance face claim ♦ Chu Sojung (Exy) height and weight ♦ 155cm, 52kg identifying features ♦ multiple ear piercings (helix, rook, and lobe in left; helix, rook, conch, and lobe in right); small splotchy birthmark behind left knee, ponytails all day errday overall appearance ♦ Doxy is fairly short. Okay, Doxy is really short, but that doesn't matter when, if you mock her, she'll stretch to tower over you. She is muscular from years of volleyball, though she still can't seem to work off that tiny bit of fat from her upper arms no matter how many times she hits a ball. Her skin tone is average for her race (Korean), maybe even a little on the pale side. She has dark brown eyes, usually bright with mischief, and her medium-coloured, fringed brown hair is just past her shoulders - not that it matters when it's tied up in a high ponytail 9/10 times to keep it out of her face. Style-wise, Doxy is pretty simple. She likes clothes she can move around in, and quickly; typically, hooded sweatshirts, denim shorts, and trainers are her everyday go-tos. Denim is a must in her wardrobe overall - seriously, she probably owns denim undergarments. To see her dressed up for something is a rare and mysterious thing, so don't expect it. the personality likes ♦ volleyball, fancy scrunchies, yellow, kiwis, iguanas, crewneck sweaters, toffees, adrenaline activities dislikes ♦ sleeping, oranges, soft drinks, bitter food, RABBITS strengths ♦ extremely determined and never gives up (so if she wants to be your friend YOU WILL BE FRIENDS you get no choice); loyal and team-oriented weaknesses ♦ tends to give in to hubris, thus easily manipulated by those who will shower he with praise; tends to become single-minded and only focus on one thing extremely heavily at a time (addictive personality) dreams ♦ she'd love to be a pro volleyball player, but since that's unlikely, her only real goal is to achieve some degree of happiness. Also have a pet iguana. fears ♦ nervous about opening up about her sexuality; rabbits (seriously. She hates them.) overall personality ♦ Those meeting Doxy for the first time will probably find her somewhat difficult to deal with. She has a tendency to come across as arrogant and bull-headed, probably because, to some degree, she is; she's supremely confident in herself and her abilities, and is happy to show off. Rarely will she hold back in speaking her mind. In fact, it may seem she has no insecurities at all at times, but of course, the bigger they are the harder they fall, and she takes criticisms as personal attacks, which lead to overzealous defences and attempts to regain her pride. She tends to overcompensate in all aspects of her life; a birthday party will become a 2000-person event, a single episode of a show a season in one night...in that aspect, she's extremely self-indulgent and also LOVES to pull pranks. Because of this addictive personality, she has learned to focus extremely hard on letting things out in sports, where her competitive nature can shine. As a team player, she excels at sports where she can support others and in turn have others at her side; she's fiercely loyal to those that are a part of her little family and take bullets for them, but those outside won't see the more generous and dependable aspects as she simply doesn't care enough about them to let them see. Basically, it can be easy to write her off as rude at first, but she's not at all malicious, just very prideful and determined. Once you get to know her, she will even share her last hair elastic with you~ the history father ♦ Jae Huk Pyeong, 57, CFO of Kyu Group mother ♦ Boram Gung, 39, unemployed siblings ♦ Kwang Nam Pyeong (half-brother), 29, head accountant Haneul Pyeong (half-sister), 24, grad student Ahrong Pyeong (sister), 6 important people ♦ Yura Jung (father's ex-wife), 52, former pro athlete Kelsey Bancetti-Pyeong (aunt, maternal figure), 50, interior decorator Jordan Bancetti-Pyeong (uncle, paternal figure), 54, magazine proofreader Lena Bancetti-Pyeong (cousin), 11 hometown ♦ born in Asan, Korea; grew up in Vancouver, Canada overall history ♦ The Jell-O Baby. That was one hell of a title to ride into the world on, but what better pseudonym was there for the mass of indeterminate flesh that came out in place of a little girl? Neck lolling in attempts to do 360 turns, a stomach that would press flat into a pancake as soon as she was laid on it, arms that wiggled like noodles; not many people can make the claim that they can touch their elbow with their tongue, but that might even have been where it was when she was born. She was more freak-show attraction than kid, and of course, the media LOVED her. Unfortunately, her parents were not quite as happy with the attention they were getting. Jae Huk Pyeong, CFO of the architectural giant Kyu Group, was already in hot water for having divorced his wife just two short years earlier to marry his much younger mistress, and while the heirs to his position and name were already set, Jell-O Baby - Dayoung - was not any more helpful. Was this the karma he got, reporters would gleefully ask, for taking practically everything from his ex-wife in the settlement? Of course, as all things do, when Dayoung was pronounced healthy and happy and ready to go home once she had...solidified slightly, the rage died down, but it didn't change the disgust that her parents had for her. In fact, it was almost as soon as they could get it that she was in the hands of a nanny while they mostly ignored her, but the fact did remain that she was still their child, and at Boram's urging, Jae Huk eventually contacted his brother in Canada to see if he and his wife, who had never had children, would be willing to raise one. With their eager acceptance, Dayoung became Deandra, a Canadian citizen. Though she did keep in contact with her birth parents, she never had particular interest in them; as compared to her seemingly stiff old family life, the toddler loved nothing more than to get into Kelsey's paint samples or try to sound out the articles Jordan was reading. They really did see her as their daughter, and thus raised her as best they could...but of course, things got weird. Fast. First it happened in her junior volleyball league, something they had signed her up for after she had spent hours glued to the television absorbing the sport, following the players with eager eyes. In fact, in true cliche fashion, it was her first game as she dove for the ball, still at least a foot and a half away - and somehow her arm miraculously managed to reach that foot and a half distance to scoop it back over the net. The Jello-O Baby was reborn. Now, the other half of the Pyeong family wasn't exactly poor, but even the private doctors they took her to didn't exactly have an answer to the fact that she could turn her arm into a bendy straw if they kept twisting it enough. While everyone else was busy freaking out, Doxy was too busy admiring herself and this new skill to worry that she was any different, and anyways, it had been something she had been doing for a while. How else did her aunt and uncle think she was getting the cookies from the top shelf? Poor fools. But, of course, that kind of thing couldn't get out. While her aunt and uncle agonized over it for a while, they eventually came to terms - somewhat. Of course they explained that she had to try and keep it under wraps - difficult to tell to a girl coming into the start of what would end up being eternal rebellious years - but, since she cared about them enough (and since Kelsey was finally pregnant herself), she decided it was best to probably not stress out her aunt and the baby. Thus years passed, eventfully and uneventfully; she visited her real parents a few times (and had a lot of fun freaking them out with stretching her neck around doorways to freak their new toddler out - her sister), worked hard at volleyball, did all that stuff. It wasn't until she was 15 that anything really devastating happened to her. Now, Doxy had always known she was different. While the other girls would talk about boys in the changeroom, she wasn't entirely opposed - but she would much rather have admired her fellow teammates, and one, Talia, had always been what she would consider her best friend. They were thick as thieves, constantly wreaking havoc on coaches, rival teams (the chili powder in the underwear before a game was always a classic)...but Doxy had always seen her as more than just that, and so it was one day in the showers that she made an attempt to kiss her on the mouth. Unfortunately, this was not received very well. In fact, it was received with her being pelted with shampoo bottles and insults. Doxy ended up going home in with more than just shower water on her face; she couldn't remember the last time she had cried so much. That evening they got a polite call that she had been removed from the team after complaints, and thus began the darker period of her life. Now with no friends thanks to both the removal from the team and the ostracization of her peers at school once word spread, she ended up skipping all the time anyways, leading to more calls about her absence and potential for expulsion. The only things she kept up with were watching Olympic volleyball tournament tapes and playing with her cousin. Eventually, the Bancetti-Pyeong's decided it was best to find the girl that had become their daughter a fresh start, and eventually came across the goldmine thanks to a tip-off from a certain doctor. A place where someone like Doxy could not only somewhat be herself, but learn about the whole Jell-O situation as well. It was perfect, and though with initial complaints, Doxy eventually made the decision to attend. Now a student at Primrose and away from her former negativity, she's gained back most of her cheerfulness and is a productive lil' junior. Hopefully she can make lots of friends! Just beware of hugs. She might noodle-arm you to death. the role player alias ♦ Olltii (feel free to call me any iteration of this!) age ♦ 18 pronouns ♦ she/her code ♦ ADMIN EDIT other characters ♦ Doxy is my first babbu!!!! |
