Shira Marie Nore the basics Shira Marie Nore♦ nicknames ♦ Princess (LOL, she does get a lot of love and attention from her family XD) age ♦ Eighteen birthday ♦ December 1, 1997 occupation ♦ Student school ♦ Stanford University species ♦ human ability/power ♦ n/a how the ability works ♦ n/a - she doesn’t have an ability. She’s a regular human. ^.^ gender ♦ female, she/her/hers sexuality ♦ heterosexual the appearance face claim ♦ Zoey Deutch height and weight ♦ 5 feet 3 inches, 110lbs identifying features ♦ Her smile is always really bright and infectious, as is the twinkle in her eyes whenever she laughs. overall appearance ♦ One word that could be used to describe Shira is a “snowflake.” She’s small and lithe with a build of a dancer for she does in fact love ballet (though once she entered high school she focused more on perfecting her violin). Given that Shira spends a lot of time indoors, her skin is quite pale, like the smooth surface of milk poured into a glass. Her eyes are hazel although it’s a bit difficult to pinpoint what the exact color is, and her hair is a dark chocolate blonde with natural waves. For the most part, she doesn’t really do much to her hair or wear a lot of makeup simply because Shira doesn’t normally go out much to her parents’ exasperation. Shira possesses reading glasses and she often wears them to read, though they aren’t really essential for her eyesight. She can walk around without them. the personality likes ♦ reading, books and more books, writing in her research journal, playing her violin, composing music, science, math, learning in general, veganism -- basically Shira loves a lot of things and she can pretty much carry on conversation about anything with anyone. dislikes ♦ meat, animal cruelty, really really LOUD social settings, meanie-pants people, bullies, close-minded individuals, anything that would inhibit learning, unequal treatment strengths ♦ Book Smart - Shira has a love for books and learning whether it’d be about science or art or literature---so long as she learning something new, she’s forever interested. It’s because of her true passion to learn that she actually enjoys homework and research papers… and everything in between. Weird, yes, but that is indeed Shira. Playing the Violin - Shira’s mother, Aria, is a Composer with an ear for musicality. Naturally, her daughter would inherit such an ear as well. Shira learned how to play the violin ever since she was little, and has practiced every single day since then not because of parental pressure but because she loves it. She’s quite talented and even has begun composing her own music. Quirky - Shira’s a bit quirky and she admits it. Some jokingly call her a hippie given her vegan diet and desire to do anything and everything to fight for social justice (for both humans and animals) and, yes, sometimes her passion spills a bit too much. Still, one loves her for her quirks and those aren’t exactly things that anyone wants to change. Compassionate & Kind - Being compassionate and kind go hand in hand, and Shira really and truly has a heart of gold. She’s more than willing to help people without batting an eye, and when it comes to those with special abilities---well, she’s very accepting. In fact, she wants to learn more about them if she could! weaknesses ♦ Curiosity Kills - Shira would never back down whenever she’s onto something in her research, and we all know what happens when you get in too deep… that could lead to a whole lot of trouble. Doesn’t really go out - She’s far too absorbed in her own research and books to actually go out and social. As a result, she’s not exactly knowledgeable about street smarts as she is about science and music and literature. More often than not her family needs to push her out the door and hide her research journal in order to force her to socialize and get some vitamin D. Easily gets sick - She is a small little thing with health issues here and there. More often than not, Shira will burn the midnight oil in order to chase a discovery, and that often means she doesn’t get enough sleep… or eat when she should. Because of that she does get sick quite often and when she does, she’s normally bedridden. dreams ♦ She hopes to fully understand the origin of special abilities and how they get passed along through generations. fears ♦ Shira’s biggest fear is if anything happened to her family and friends. Truly, despite how attached she is to her own studies, she has her priorities. overall personality ♦ As noted above, “quirky” could be used to describe Shira’s personality. She’s so naturally sweet like honey that it’s almost impossible for someone to find any real way to hate her. Shira is absolutely devoted to learning and tends to spend most of her free time devoted to reading, researching, and writing. When she isn’t hiding out in her makeshift lab, one could find her playing her violin or composing her own music. Just to also add to her quirk, Shira is a vegan and thus tends to cook and bake her own foods given the special requirements of her diet. Because she spends most of her time devoted to learning, Shira doesn’t have a lot of friends but the ones she does have she keeps close and ensures that she devotes all the attention to them. Similarly, Shira is quite close with her family, especially all her uncles and aunts. More than anything she’s very accepting of others regardless of where they came from or what they did in their past. She knows about special abilities given the fact that her mom has one, but instead of being afraid of them she is really rather curious and wants to learn much more about them. the history father ♦ Jacob Nore, 41, Museum Curator mother ♦ Ariadne Nore (nee: Kosta), 45, Composer (special ability: Siren’s Song) siblings ♦ None important people ♦ Michael Nore, 46, Uncle (paternal) Gabriel Nore, 37, Uncle (paternal) Susanna Nore, 34, Aunt (paternal) Rena Kosta, 36, Aunt (maternal) Elias Kosta, 33, Uncle (maternal) hometown ♦ New Orleans, Louisiana overall history ♦ Shira Nore is the daughter and only child of Jacob and Ariadne Nore, born in New Orleans, Louisiana on a snowy December day. She was an “accidental” child, one that came to the couple all of a sudden when Aria found herself feeling a bit queasy… only to realize that the queasiness persisted. Neither Aria nor Jake ever thought that they would be with child at such a young age, but neither ever regretted the fact that they had her. One could say that Aria was anxious, nervous even, about whether her child was going to have a special ability much like she did… if only because she was nervous about having her child learn who she really was. Aria never fully accepted her abilities despite Jake’s reassurance, and so there was always that modicum of fear that, perhaps, her own child would not accept her. All such fears, were set aside from the time being after the baby was born, for the couple never thought they could experience such joy of bringing a child into the world. Aria gave Shira’s name derived from her own culture, one that the pair chuckled at because of the meaning behind the name. Song. Shira was a darling child, one so quiet and sweet who spent most of her time sleeping. In fact, much of her childhood was quite easy-going given the amount of love and attention her family (everyone including all her aunts and uncles), and the couple learned at an early age that their daughter was gifted, though not in the sense that Aria was anxious about. Shira was an intelligent baby who learned how to walk, talk, and even dance at an early age without hardly much effort at all. The only issue about such a tiny little thing, however, was the fact that as much as she giggled and laughed, she often got sick. Even as a young child, Shira remembered her mother cradling her baby in her arms and rocking back and forth on the couch humming a beautiful yet haunting tune that she composed just for her daughter. Beside her mother sat her father who would often come by to wipe the sweat off the baby’s pinkened cheeks. At the age of five, Shira began to grow curious about the world of music, especially when she sees her mom playing instruments. More often than not, little Shira would peer from the doorway to watch, hiding whenever her mother glanced over her shoulder like it was some sort of game. Aria knew almost instantly what her daughter was doing but ultimately played along until, one day, she surprised Shira from behind and quite literally carried her to the piano where she showed her how to play a very simple song: Mary had a Little Lamb. That was the start of Shira’s love for music. Every day she would sit with her mother and learn the arts, eventually managing to find an instrument that she ultimately fell in love with as well. Little Shira wanted to learn all the things which entailed both ballet and the violin. In fact, she continued to practice both all through elementary and middle school, devoting every bit of her free time to music. Aria and Jake kept a close eye on their daughter though, both wondering when (if it ever will) their daughter might potentially develop a special ability much like Aria’s… but no such event ever came. It turned out that their daughter was certainly gifted with intellect and musical prowess but not in the way that Aria was so anxious to discover. The only thing was: how would her daughter react to knowing the truth about her? Everyday that ate at Aria… until one day Shira came to her and Jake to discuss something that was quite important: the decision to choose whether she should devote her time to the violin or to dance. Somehow the conversation ultimately move from talking about Shira’s transition into high school to… what her mother really was. Some kids retaliated. Some would run off frightened. But Shira… she was absolutely accepting, even going as far as to ask questions to learn more. Such a conversation was perhaps the most life-changing for a young girl who was only just about to enter high school, for she would ultimately credit said conversation for the reason why she decided to pursue science when she went onto college and for the reason why she began her research journal at the very start of high school. More than anything, Shira just wanted to learn and understand and such thirst for knowledge was exactly why she got into genetics, specifically surrounding mutations and the very gene that was responsible for the special ability. Her passion and dedication to both science and music ultimately resulted in her getting accepted to Stanford University in California where she planned to study both the arts and science. Recently, she was approved to research and study in her hometown of New Orleans, Louisiana for a semester. the role player alias ♦ Tiny age ♦ 26 pronouns ♦ she/her/hers code ♦ Admin Edit other characters ♦ @neziah |
