dahlia elizabeth chambers the basics full name ♦ Dahlia Elizabeth Chambers, but she's gone by many different names nicknames ♦ Lia sometimes, but not always age ♦ Twenty-four birthday ♦ May 5th, 1991 occupation ♦ pickpocket, thief, general low-life with high-class taste school ♦ home trained in being a skinwalker ability/power ♦ skinwalker species ♦ skinwalker how the ability works ♦ Dahlia is a skinwalker which means she can turn into any person at will. She has to have seen the person at least once in order to change herself. Depending on how much detail she wants to go into with them, will depend on how long she is able to hold the face. If she has extreme focus, she can take everything about them. Their fingerprints, their knowledge, their abilities. When she is able to change back, she is usually exhausted. If she doesn't need all of the details like abilities, fingerprints, skills, or knowledge, then she can hold the form for much longer. If Dahlia takes on an extremely physically different form, she will usually be sore or nauseous when she turns back. For example if someone is significantly taller than she is, she might have sore knees for a while after. Being able to physically touch a person helps her be able to keep a form for longer with less physical side effects from it, but she is able to take a form from sight only. gender ♦ female, using she/her pronouns sexuality ♦ homosexual, aromantic, will fake romantic feelings if it's needed with anyone. the appearance face claim ♦ Adelaide Kane height and weight ♦ 5'4 and weighs about 115, she's a bit on the small side and blames her tendency to replace food with alcohol on that. identifying features ♦ Since she's able to change her own appearance at will, most of the scars she's collected are covered. She has severe scaring on her thumbs and wrists from years of breaking out of handcuffs over the years. She has no tattoos or piercings, but she does have a birthmark on her left hip that is particularly stubborn when she changes form. overall appearance ♦ Dahlia is a petite woman, standing at about five foot four. She walks with a confidence, so she has impeccable posture and grace. It helps with distracting people while she lifts their wallet or passport from them. Her hair is naturally a chestnut brown, and she keeps it at about shoulder length. When she's feeling particularly stressed out, she pull it up to get it off her neck, or she might run her fingers through it excessively. Her eyes are whiskey brown, and usually framed with a modest amount of makeup. She makes her living by getting people to trust her, so she does put a fair amount of concern in what she looks like. Her skin is on the fairer side, but when she spends too much time in the sun, she tans very well. She prefers the fair skin look, so she typically avoids too much time in the sun. She makes a special exception for Louisiana, but prefers the nightlife of the city. Dahlia loves beautiful clothes but would never spend actual money on it. She particularly loves stealing the face of some society woman to gain access to their home and steal everything that she can carry out. Dahlia prefers dresses over pants, and always wears heels. the personality likes ♦ - getting her way - a good time - French coffee - Tower Bridge in London, it's her favorite place in the world. dislikes ♦ - when she can't hold her face for as long as she needs - meat (strict vegetarian) - stupid questions - electronics hate her (she's broken computers by throwing them at walls) strengths ♦ - advance skinwalker - pickpocket weaknesses ♦ - these Southern belles - cares more about people than she lets on dreams ♦ marry rich and give up stealing fears ♦ getting into a situation she can't get out of overall personality ♦ Dahlia has a clear me first mentality. She started it as a survival mechanism, but found that being selfish and spoiled suited her fine. She comes across as cold and demanding, but she knows how to get what she wants. Denying her something usually doesn't work. There are few people who are able to mean something to her, but they usually never find out. She would prefer to just help them in small ways to show her love, and then remain aloof and distant from them. She might become close with an older coffee shop owner, and pose as an anonymous investor and give them money for a new coffee machine (stolen money, of course) rather than just tell them that she appreciates them. Dahlia was raised to keep herself closed off from the rest of the world and that caring for people just gave them a way to hurt her. She's noticed this about herself, but isn't sure if it would ever be worth it to stop feeling that way. She enjoys her life just the way that it is, and would be hard pressed to ever find a reason to change. the history father ♦ Unknown mother ♦ Alicia Chambers, madame at a brothel in London siblings ♦ Probably? She doesn't know who her father is, but she's sure that her mother never had other children. important people ♦ A maternal grandmother type in Paris, but she hasn't seen her in years. hometown ♦ Grew up in the Whitechapel area of London overall history ♦ Dahlia was born to a madame of a London whorehouse and a random man. Her mother told her for years that her father was some distinguished member of the royal family, but she's sure now that he was just some slobbering drunk who fell for one of her mother's skinwalker disguises. Being told for years that she was princess or a duchess suited her fine and probably explains why she feels so high of herself, despite being raised in a brothel surrounded by prostitutes that her mother owned and their disgusting nightly partners. She would order people around and thought of herself as a princess of sin. She got to do what she wanted, and rather than attending a proper education she was taught by her mother. Her lessons included how to pass as a proper lady, and how to change her face at will. When she was sixteen, she left her mother's care and went off on her own. Mostly because of their conflicting personalities, but also because her mother wanted Dahlia to work for her in the brothel. Dahlia had been taught how to be a thief from some of the girls who worked for her mother since she was a child, and at this point was already a skilled pickpocket. When she was sixteen, she lifted a passport and wallet from some American tourist and bought herself a ticket for Paris. She was able to hold the face of the man in the picture for long enough to get through border patrol and customs. Once she got onto the train, she changed back and spent the rest of the ride exhausted and sleeping. She knew that she would never be able to London, and that she was doing the best thing for herself. After arriving in Paris, she did what she was best at. She could steal wallets, passports, whatever she really needed from tourists who didn't know how to keep their things safe. She would open credit cards with their personal information and max them out. She was able to have a decent sized apartment on the Seine and filled it with expensive furniture, designer clothes, and every luxury she could afford. She would have flings with beautiful women in bars, but she never felt a romantic connection with any of them. Mostly it was a few wild hours in a bathroom or a bed, but she wouldn't feel the butterflies in her stomach, or need for them like she would read about. She was sure that it was just not for her, and given how she was raised, she didn't mind too much about it. Dahlia lived happily in Paris, she eventually met an older woman named Lynnette Moreau and for the first time in her life felt a bond with someone. Lynnette owned a coffee shop near Notra Dame and would talk with Dahlia for hours about growing up in Belgium and moving to Paris when she was young. She talked about falling in love with her husband, an African man from the Ivory Coast who moved to Paris for university. She would show Dahlia pictures of her grandchildren and slip her small presents for Christmas and Easter. Dahlia never felt a bond with her own mother the way that she did with Lynette, so when the silver haired woman died in 2014, Dahlia attended the funeral and left Paris the same day. She loved the city, but she couldn't walk down a street without seeing Lynnette's face. She bought a ticket to New Orleans, Louisiana and never looked back at the beautiful city she loved. When she landed in New Orleans, she went right back to the life she was good at, with a pang of guilt that Lynnette would have disapproved of her ways. She knew that she would never have that same emotional connection with someone else, so she is content to push Lynnette's kindness out of her mind and just get back to living how she wants, as she wants. Dahlia lives in the French Quarter and is enjoying the tourists who wander around the divine city with their unlimited potential to do stupid things. the role player alias ♦ bow down to a Goddess (belle works fine) age ♦ 24 pronouns ♦ she/her code ♦ ADMIN EDIT other characters ♦ Evangeline Maxine Charbonneau & @beaugiroux |
