She needed a stiff drink and there was just no way in the world she was going to do that in the house. Pippa sat down on a bar stool and ran her fingers through her hair. She was attracted to a woman, that she could wrap her mind around. She had plenty of friends who identified as queer, and she never saw a problem with it. She just couldn’t wrap her mind around being attracted to a seventeen year old. Kaleolani was practically a child. Pippa was already raising her siblings by the time she was that age, but she knew that there were few people who had that same experience that she did. It aged her more. She didn’t know what to do about Kaleolani, but she had to figure it out soon.
Pippa ordered a double scotch, trying to figure out what she was going to do about this crush. She could reasonably stay away from the Hawaiian, but she didn’t want reasonable. She didn’t want to be spared the agony of watching Kaleolani bite on the end of her pen and smirk that irresistible grin. She didn’t want to walk away from those needs, she wanted to give into everything that she thought about having with the seventeen year old, but she knew that it would never happen. Straight laced Pippa would never be able to get up the guts to break that many rules. She would never figure out how to even go about beginning a relationship with someone who she taught and there was no way she could talk to anyone about it.
She poured back her scotch back and felt the warmth spread through her chest and dull the ache of what she felt for Kaleolani just enough to help her order a second one and push the thoughts away for just a little bit.
“Another, please.” She ordered and took in a few deep breaths, listening to the music that was filling the bar. There were beautiful women all around, and with enough scotch in her system, she could possibly find someone else. Someone who would push Kaleolani from her thoughts and help her find comfort.
Low on self esteem, so you run on gasoline
