Evan laid on the soft blanket and looked up at the clouds. There were so many things that she knew that she had to do, the chemistry textbook by her feet was proof enough of that, but she was comfortable with pretending like none of that mattered. She wanted to just relax and enjoy a little bit of warmth on her cheeks. She wiggled closer to the plaid blanket that she kept for just a location and closed her eyes to the sunlight. Even with the approach of autumn, Louisiana was still thick with summer. She was born and raised in the city of second chances and she loved her home.
Things had settled down a little bit since all of the drama with her breakup and her new relationship with Aden Kane Adkins , but now that her best friend knew, that was all of it. She just wanted to focus on her education, on getting out of Primrose and starting her own life. One where she didn’t have to worry about her parents trying to pull her down, one where she could continue seeing Aden and spend time with her brother. There was so much that she wanted to do with herself, but it was hard to even know where to start when she had bouts of time where she couldn’t control her abilities. She thought that she had a good run of complete control, and then she created an illusion at the Adkins’ home when Aden dropped a plate and scared her.
She felt the sunshine warm her eyelids and turned to her purse to fish out a pair of sunglasses. She put them over her eyes and watched the clouds roll by. There were plenty of people walking around the grounds of Primrose, but it was nice to have her own little world for the moment. Someplace that she could enjoy without worrying about the rest of the world questioning what she did to Casey, or how she could date her best friend’s brother.
and i think to myself, what a wonderful world
